2022: Completion of the first phase of mobile lidar testing
March 14, 2022 Moscow Technical University of Communications and Informatics (MTUSI) announced the completion in its quantum center of the first stage of testing mobile, lidar developed by scientists. Institute of General Physics named after A.M. Prokhorov of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IOF RAS) The study was carried out at the scientific installation (UNU) of the MTUSI "Hardware and Software Complex for Assessing the Main Technical Characteristics wireless of Underwater Equipment," laser communications created by specialists. higher education institution
Joint experiments of MTUSI and IOF RAS are aimed at studying the possibilities of using lidars for sensing slow obstacles in the atmosphere and hydrosphere. Scientists studied the characteristics of the lidar complex at the UNU in the hydrosphere on a track of various lengths.
"The section of the water route with a length of 9 meters, implemented at the MTUSI stand, turned out to be sufficient to test a number of scientific hypotheses related to the use of the lidar complex and the implementation of mobile underwater optical communication devices," noted Sergey Kazantsev, professor at the Department of Guiding Telecommunications Media, MTUSI. |
Domestic experts tested the complex for probing several translucent obstacles located sequentially on the path of propagation of laser radiation in the atmosphere, and estimated the loss of optical power.
The results of joint experimental studies of Russian scientists from MTUSI and IOF RAS confirmed the possibility of using polarization coding of information transmitted using the lidar complex.
"Discoveries, as a rule, are made at the junction of scientific directions. Such interdisciplinary research is comprehensive. Their implementation requires the combined efforts of various scientific teams and organizations. Therefore, in order to effectively develop research in the field of optical hydrosphere communication and to obtain scientific results, the employees of the Advanced Optical Communication Technologies sector who conduct these studies invited scientists from the IOF RAS who have sufficient experience in the field of optical sensing in the atmosphere and hydrosphere. The obtained results of the joint experiment will make it possible to most fully prepare the lidar complex for full-scale experiments, "- emphasized Sergey Erokhin, rector of MTUSI. |
