Wifire integrates local content into OTT broadcasting in regions

On March 12, 2020 the company Elecard announced the organization IPTV and OTT broadcastings of federal multiplexes in 30 regions Russia for communication service provider Wifire, subsidiary company "MegaFon".

OTT broadcasting gains popularity more and more. This technology allows to transfer an audio-and video information from the supplier of service to the subscriber's device, passing the telecom operator. Users can watch video from any place in the world on the TV, phone, the tablet or the computer as OTT supports a set of raznoformatny screens. Subscribers select OTT television thanks to such characteristics of service as personal selection of content, interactivity and the instant beginning of viewing. The operator of fixed connection Wifire who offers clients such opportunities of television addressed to Elecard to provide users in different parts of the country with broadcasting of local channels.

Elecard developed and implemented in each of 30 regions programmatically-hardware a complex which accepts local channels and prepares content for IPTV and OTT of broadcasting. This solution works based on the program transcoder Elecard CodecWorks with support of Quick Sync technology. A system accepts two federal multiplexes. CodecWorks transcodes MPEG AVC/-2 flow in AVC in 3 bitrates and packages it in HLS. The complex provides stable broadcasting as includes reservation of the entering flows. If there is an error, the scheme will automatically pass to a reserve source, and the TV viewer will not notice failure.

The operator does not need to control operation of the transcoder in each city separately: the single system of management allows to work with a hardware and software system on a centralized basis through GUI or the web interface.

In this project we integrated an exit for OTT, DVB and IPTV based on one hybrid solution that allowed the client to save resources on purchase of the equipment.
