2024: Creation of an IT infrastructure modernization and development plan

K2 Tekh developed a plan for the modernization and development of the IT infrastructure of the A. S. Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts (Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts). For 6 weeks, IT specialists conducted a comprehensive audit of the museum's computing and software infrastructure, which ensures the work of about 1,000 employees. According to the results of the survey, K2Tekh prepared a roadmap of more than 50 initiatives to modernize the infrastructure, taking into account import substitution and the strategic tasks of the Pushkin Museum. K2 Tekh announced this on August 28, 2024.

The Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts is one of the largest museums in Russia. Every year, more than 1 million people visit its exposition, which consists of more than 610 thousand exhibits. IT development and implementation of information technologies are among the priority tasks of the Pushkin Museum. A stable IT infrastructure is needed not only to ensure the operational activities of employees, but also to equip scientific halls and support multimedia projects and museum sites. So, for example, on the portal of the Pushkin Museum, 5 main exposition spaces are digitized and available for virtual viewing. The need to modernize the IT infrastructure is due to the museum's strategic initiatives, including the prospect of completing the reconstruction project and expanding the territory of the Museum Quarter.

According to the results of the reconstruction project, the area of the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts will more than double - up to 105,000 square meters. m We expect that the number of visitors to the Museum Town will exceed 3 million people a year. To ensure the stable operation of the IT infrastructure with a multiple increase in the load in the foreseeable future, we must now eliminate bottlenecks, optimize operation and develop a development plan. We turned to K2Tex specialists as experts in building an IT infrastructure and implementing complex projects. During the joint work, colleagues promptly informed us about changes in the IT market and gave recommendations on import substitution. High-quality IT consulting from K2Tekh helped us set priorities and determine development vectors, - said Yuri Berezovik, Advisor to the Director of the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts. A.S. Pushkin.

K2Tex specialists examined the current state of servers, storage and backup systems, infrastructure services and operating systems, information security systems (IS), virtualization platform and local area network (LAN). The audit was conducted remotely using interviews, questionnaires, analysis of logs and equipment configurations, as well as a remote connection to the infrastructure. In addition, K2Tex experts analyzed the structure of the IT budget and revealed the main reasons for its imbalance, gave recommendations on optimizing the most expensive items.

As a result of the audit, K2Tekh experts developed a thermal map of the state of the IT infrastructure and a plan of initiatives to eliminate bottlenecks. Thus, to reduce the risks of interrupting business processes, they formed a roadmap of 7 steps to develop information security measures and funds, and also recommended building a fault-tolerant architecture based on two sites. In addition, IT specialists have proposed a target network scheme, including central nodes and regional branches. K2Tekh also developed an import substitution plan for the Pushkin Museum. The transition to Russian products guarantees the stability of the IT infrastructure, thanks to the ability to receive service support from manufacturers directly, and in the future - reduces operating costs.

The experience of working with the Pushkin Museum is one of the most positive in our practice. Thanks to mutual interest in a high-quality result, open dialogue and willingness to work in a team, we managed to successfully complete the project, satisfying all the requirements of the customer. Due to the need for import substitution, we are seeing a boom in IT consulting requests. And therefore, developing an IT development strategy for the Pushkin Museum, we included in the roadmap those domestic solutions that will definitely be compatible with the museum's current IT infrastructure. We have already started the process of working out the replacement of components: the first stage will be a comparative analysis and piloting of solutions. And we hope that our further cooperation with the museum will be just as fruitful, "said Sergey Verchenov, head of infrastructure consulting practice at K2Tekh.
