2023: Introduction of intelligent video surveillance complex

MegaFon has implemented an intelligent video surveillance system at the strategically important Sakhatransneftegaz gas transmission equipment. The complex of video cameras in real time performs several tasks at once: responds to the appearance of objects in the frame, the occurrence of loud sounds and smoke, and also recognizes the registration numbers of cars and notifies responsible employees about their passage. The project was first implemented in the Far North. MegaFon announced this on November 9, 2023.

The Sakhatransneftegaz company supplies more than 100 settlements of Yakutia with natural gas and operates over a thousand production facilities. All of them, like three thousand km of pipelines, were included in a large-scale project to ensure safety and early detection of possible emergencies.

At the first stage of the project, MegaFon's video analytics service underwent test operation at several geographically distributed facilities of Sakhatransneftegaz. All of them were equipped with a video system of 36 cameras, which were controlled from a single center, and operational notifications and reports on passing transport and other important events came here.

In 2023, it was decided to scale the project - the number of smart video surveillance cameras will increase to 140, and the geography of the project will expand to three districts of Yakutia.

It is important for us that our main gas transportation infrastructure facilities operate a modern system that would provide continuous round-the-clock video monitoring. Given the difficult geographical and weather conditions of Yakutia, when choosing a partner, we relied on a wide network coverage area, including in remote and inaccessible places where gas pipelines and stations are located. MegaFon fully complies with this condition, we know this firsthand, since our employees use MegaFon's connection when they go to the facilities, "said Alexey Kolodeznikov, CEO of Sakhatransneftegaz.

Our technologies will help Sakhatransneftegaz specialists to quickly monitor the situation on thousands of kilometers of the gas pipeline, analyze the data obtained and, if necessary, transfer them to specialized services. Timely identification of emergencies will allow us to quickly respond and eliminate natural and man-made cataclysms and, most importantly, minimize damage, "said Artem Bazyl, Director of Corporate Business Development at MegaFon in the Far East and Siberia.
