The Svyaznoy Bank started operation of outsourcing DPC.

Tasks

Svyaznoy Bank needed DPC of the high level. By own efforts the company could not start services in short terms. At the time of the beginning the bank had no works practically nothing. Including for such sections as support of work with cards, the remote servicing system. Moreover, there were no prepared server rooms. The serious server hardware could not be placed because interfloor overlappings of the building would not sustain loading. Construction of the premises under DPC will take at least a year.

Svyaznoy Bank made the decision on transfer of IT tasks of storage and processing to outsourcing.

Solution

Ensuring fault tolerance is also very important. Svyaznoy Bank is at quite high levels. SLA (service level agreement is the agreement on the level of service) does not fall lower than the level of 99%.

For ensuring fault tolerance Svyaznoy Bank went on the way of outsourcing. Both DPCs are rented. All complex of works is carried out by IBM company.

Advantages of the solution

The made decisions allowed to reduce strongly capital costs in comparison with independent implementation of works of similar volume and the quality level. Time expenditure is significantly reduced.

Svyaznoy Bank accepted active participated in design of DPC. Two mirror DPCs with completely identical equipment connected on dark optics are organized.

DPC of the high level of reliability with certification of the engineering systems. IBM estimates them as TIER 2+ that exceeds standard requirements of TIER 2, but below, than it is necessary for TIER 3. And it gives higher level of reliability, than "fair" TIER 3, and with smaller costs.

Implementation

The basis of DPC is formed by two IBM System p 780 servers on architecture of POWER. Servers use Capacity on Demand technology (computing resources on demand). A part of computing resources is involved at the moment of peak loads and is inactive when in them there is no need.

Each of two servers has the storage system from Hitachi Data Systems.
