2020: Implementation of Huawei OceanStor Dorado V6

On April 23, 2020 it became known that the Huawei company and Tatneft successfully implemented storage systems of the next generation of Huawei OceanStor Dorado V6 within the project of upgrade of the Data processing center of Tatneft. Project implementation allowed to increase considerably high-speed performance of corporate information systems and also to protect investments into IT, having allowed to integrate a system into the existing infrastructure.

According to the company, Tatneft has branched IT infrastructure. High extent of digitalization and automation the different directions of business of Tatneft, such as oil and gas production, oil processing, oil and gas chemistry, tire complex, network of gas station, power industry, development and equipment manufacturing for the oil and gas industry and the block of service structures allow to control and develop effectively.

Information technologies became not just digital assistants who do our life more convenient and business and production processes for a long time – more effective. They define the development strategy of the companies and their efficiency in all aspects: the analysis, planning, development, production, transportation, sale, promotion, internal processes, document flow, etc. – all this cannot already be imagined without IT. In it the essence of digital transformation – reaching the following level thanks to disruptive properties of these technologies also consists. The organizations which are not paying them sufficient attention very quickly lose competitiveness. Fuel and energy complex in this plan is not an exception.

Specialists of Tatneft already have positive operating experience of the equipment of Huawei, including hybrid storage systems of Huawei OceanStor V3/V5, the equipment of data networks, the equipment for creation of wireless networks, servers. Within the current project the task of upgrade and expansion of infrastructure for storage of critical corporate data in the updated DPC of the Company was set for IT division of Tatneft. Ensuring the maximum reliability of data storage, a low delay during the work with an array and scalability was the main requirements to a system.

The Huawei company proposed the solution on the basis of a storage system of the next generation – Huawei OceanStor Dorado V6. Implementation of all-flash of an array allowed to increase considerably high-speed performance of corporate systems due to decrease in a delay at the level of the application from 5 to less than 1 ms Besides, array performance was increased during the work with all amount of data from 2 to 5 times due to transfer of data array by solid state drives. Also it allowed to increase several times the speed of data backup due to deep integration of DWH with a backup system in DPC.

The storage system of all-flash Huawei OceanStor Dorado V6 conforms to the most strict requirements to data storage imposed by modern DBMS and also applications for virtualization and boundary calculations. The Dorado V6 system proved to be in the most different scenarios, however best of all it is suitable for placement of crucial corporate applications of the large geographically distributed companies. Important feature of Huawei OceanStor Dorado V6 is that all components are developed by Huawei company, and the array does not contain technologies or components of other producers which can have restrictions on the Russian companies.

The solutions put in an array will allow specialists of Tatneft company to pass further to use of the NVMeoF protocol into DPC and also to implement the concept of georeservation of the main IT services.
