2019: Use of AI by production of blades for turbine jets

On July 2, 2019 there was information that scientists of the Perm State National Research University (PSNRU) and specialists of JSC UEC — Perm Motors are going to implement the project on use of artificial intelligence by production of parts and nodes of turbine jets. The rector of PGNIU Igor Makarikhin and the managing director of JSC UEC-PM Sergey Popov agreed about such research and production cooperation.

As of July 2 the initiative group is already created from scientists of the university and specialists of the enterprise.

We are very interested in joint work as production of turbine blades is a core competency of the plant, and we make a maximum of efforts for increase in an exit of suitable blades, increase in their resource and reliability augmentation. Ahead — a lot of work on commissioning of the aviation PD-14 engine, mastering of the engine of big draft of PD-35. We should not lag behind world leaders of engine building — Sergey Popov, the managing director of JSC UEC — Perm Motors said.

According to Leonid Yasnitsky, professor of department of applied mathematics and information science of PGNIU, use of artificial intelligence will allow to save resources by production of turbine blades. Thanks to application of special neuronets determination of "painful points" by production of blades and reduction of number of defects will become possible.

We already acquired experience, and both positive, and negative — Leonid Yasnitsky added. — It means that we know what risks can arise. The first task — to collect statistical data, to measure parameters which there is a lot of. Then these data are loaded into the computer, the neural network which studies is connected, takes patterns, learns to manage process.
