Input of primary documents - digitization (image-processing, document capture)
In the course of preparation of information at a computerization of the enterprise, accounting automation, there is a problem of input of large volume of the text and graphic information. Using programs of optical recognition of texts, it is possible to digitize text information. Modern hardware and software systems allow to automate input of large volumes of information using network scanners and parallel recognition of texts on several computers, at the same time.

OCR – appointment - recognition
The majority of programs of optical text recognition (OCR - Optical Character Recognition) work with the bitmap image which is received through a faxmodem, the scanner, the digital camera or other device. Purpose of OCR systems consists in the analysis of raster information (the scanned character) and assignment to a fragment of the image of the corresponding character. After completion of process of recognition OCR systems should be able to save formatting of initial documents, to appropriate attribute of the paragraph in the right place, to save tables, graphics of IT. Modern programs of recognition support all known text and graphic formats and formats of spreadsheets, and some support such formats, HTML as well as PDF.

Line input
Line scanning of documents on special industrial document scanners is applied to input of large volumes. Processing in such systems is made in a semi-automatic mode with a big performance. Line scanning of documents is optimal for creation of electronic archive of large volume of the same information (accounting documentation, reports, the conclusions, scientific works, etc.). Stream scanning is applied to digitization: accounting and finance documents, contractual documents, legal documents, archive documents, directories of libraries, etc.

Means of Image-processing are applied at automatic data entry in information systems from any kinds of the documents (proving the identity, accounting, legal, etc.) to creation of electronic archives with a possibility of quick search of the necessary documents, when processing data bulks (a population census, Unified State Exam and so forth) and also to the translation of the scanned documents, images and the PDF files in the edited formats. implementation of modern means of stream input allows to reduce costs for document handling more than by 50%, to reach increase in input speed in information systems by 3 — 10 times, to provide increase in convenience and quality of work with data (the high level of security of confidential data, reduction of quantity of the errors connected with a human factor at data entry), to optimize business processes due to automation of routine input function of data and release of time of employees for the solution of profile tasks. At the same time the average return of implementation is from three months to one year.

The main consumers of Image-processing in the world are the large organizations (a little more than a half of market size in terms of money), about a third, the rest — small business falls to the share of medium-sized enterprises.
