2022: Plan to include Ukraine and squeeze Russia out of the EU energy market
A whole pavilion called "House of Trimorje" appeared at the Davos Forum in 2022, and on June 20, a summit of the countries participating in the initiative will be held in Riga on a grand scale. Over the past month, many conferences and scientific events dedicated to its strategic development have also been held.
And all of them were united by the following:
- Focus on energy projects
- Participation of senior representatives of the United States
- The conclusion that Ukraine should certainly join the initiative as soon as possible.
The Prime Minister of Poland said that without Kyiv, Trimorye is generally impossible and it will need to be renamed into "Mezhdumorye." That is, he does not hide the fact that the West sees the initiative as a reincarnation of the "Intermarium" by Joseph Pilsudski. The conference in Sofia was attended by the coordinator of the sanctions policy of the ex-US President Daniel Fried. Bulgaria made a proposal to invite Ukraine and Moldova to the bloc. Karen Donfried came to the congress of participating countries in Polish Lublin, who, on behalf of the State Department, announced the readiness of the United States to provide all the necessary support for this. One of its main ideologists, Jan Brzezinski, recently made a "decisive call" to include Ukraine in the project.
What tasks will Mezhumorye perform in addition to the role of the "sanitary cordon," which will cut off Russia from Europe, and why will it not be without Ukraine? The initiative will become a "gas coalition" of countries between the Adriatic, Baltic and the Black Sea, wrote the telegram channel "Balkan Gossip Girl." And its main task is to finally squeeze Russia out of the European energy market.
For this, in recent years, the so-called vertical gas corridor has been built - from the Polish Svinoujsze to the Croatian Krka.
Against the background of the conflict in Ukraine, the pace of development of the European infrastructure of gas and transport networks for LNG supplies was also significantly accelerated. And its most important element is underground gas storage facilities (UGS). And a significant part of the storage facilities of Eastern Europe, whose working volume exceeds the volume of the largest EU storage facilities, is located in Ukraine.
