AIT
AIT technologies are a solution of backup for telecommunication companies - providers of Internet services and telephony. The silent and compact solutions AIT allow to save on service, creating a minimum load on cooling systems and power supply in comparison with noisy and hot LTO, nevertheless providing necessary access rate to data and having the sufficient volume of drives. And all this in combination with exclusive reliability of data storage in in compact (is 4 times less than LTO) AIT cartridges.
The low cost of AIT-3Ex and AIT-4 devices allows to create extremely economic backup systems with the minimum costs allowing to place on one cartridge up to 390 GB in AIT-3Ex or 520 GB in AIT-4 thanks to the innovation system of a compression of data (2.6:1).
AIT format it:
- The wearproof films AME which are almost not littering a drive head allow to receive in the 2nd big recording density, than on a normal (MP) tape for LTO
- Special mechanism of cooling of the drive.
- The 64-kilobit chip of memory which is built in the drive provides the high speed of localization and access to files.
- Fast process of gas station of a tape in comparison with LTO.
- The built-in mechanism of cleaning of heads of the drive activated at a large number of errors.
- Each drive AIT is certified for 100% loading (at DAT 320 it is only 12%, at DAT of 160 - 40%).
- Practice shows that at LTO devices performance strongly falls when the server develops the uneven interrupted data stream (as the majority of servers of backup). And at the expense of the small line speed of a tape the start-stop operation mode influences performance of AIT a little. Therefore in actual practice drives with helix have performance above, than LTO devices.
- Low level of noise, energy consumption and minimum needs for cooling.
Thus, using AIT drives, you minimize the cost of ownership of your backup system, reducing service maintenance cost at the expense of less whimsical mechanisms, the built-in systems of cleaning and effective cooling, smaller energy consumption, noise level and high density of drives.
