2021: Ukraine adopted a law on electronic warranty stamps for goods
In early July 2021, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted a bill introducing electronic warranty stamps for goods in the country. The innovation applies only to technically complex household appliances, including air conditioners, oven cabinets, printers, smartphones, etc.
Before, Ukrainians had to keep checks, warranty stamps, a passport of goods and instructions in paper form in order to receive warranty service for the goods. If the consumer loses them, he cannot hand over the goods for repair or replace it with another. At the same time, service centers of large brands have long been taking goods for repair without paper guarantees, checking information in their internal databases.
The bill will allow sellers to provide warranty documents for the goods in electronic form. Customers will no longer need to store checks and warranty stamps for the repair or exchange of equipment, and companies will be able to provide fast and high-quality service without unnecessary securities, "said Ukrainian Minister of Digital Transformation Mikhail Fedorov. |
According to him, electronic warranty has become a normal practice in the world, and large manufacturers have long been taking goods for repair without paper stamps and checking information in the internal database.
According to the bill, at the request of the consumer, the registration of technically complex household goods on the manufacturer's official website and the execution of warranty obligations in electronic form is carried out by the seller when selling such goods.
At the same time, at the request of the consumer, the seller must provide operational documents for technically complex household goods (passport or any other document that is attached to the goods) in paper form. The procedure for warranty repair (maintenance) or warranty replacement of technically complex household goods will be determined by the Government of Ukraine.[1]
