Health care in Chile

2020: Chile begins to issue cards to people with immunity to a coronavirus

In the middle of April, 2020 the government of Chile reported that it is going to release the first-ever cards of immunity for people who successfully had a koronavirusny infection. Cards show that these people are not infectious any more and can return for work and lead normal life. The government will begin card issue of COVID-19 at the end of April, the Minister of Health Jaime Manalich told journalists.

This measure can be disputable though the countries try to fight for mass production of reliable tests for antibodies. Manalich claims that the government will provide not transmissibility of the people who received cards, "with very high probability". Also concerns express that a new system will lead to formation of the black market for similar cards. Unfortunately, nobody knows, the immunity to a coronavirus of new type how long remains. But experts hope that it will be rather resistant.

Perhaps, this coronavirus causes quite strong immune answer which is long-lasting and protects much longer, maybe, year or even five years, but we do not know because it is a new virus — the consultative group on respiratory virus threats explained.

Bodies of health care "should make decisions on the basis of probabilities which are very close to absolute confidence", Manalich explained. To patients with the broken immune system, such as cancer patients, it is necessary to wait the 28-day asymptomatic period to receive a card. Health workers will pass test each 15 days for application.

The director of National Institute of an allergy and infectious diseases of the USA Anthony Fauci said that the USA also studies a possibility of introduction of "immunity cards". The German researchers also suggested to use similar "passports of immunity" finally to allow a part of the population to return to work.[1]
