China's income growth is caused by a sharp increase in demand due to the pandemic, even against the backdrop of increased production. In April 2020, the export price of one medical mask increased by 720.8% compared to December 2019. Another factor that contributed to rising prices for Chinese products is the restriction of exports in order to meet the needs of the domestic market. Protective suits for the same period rose by 536.2%.

According to the report, despite a sharp increase in supplies, masks from China were not enough to meet global demand, which grew at an "explosive rate." At the same time, the US authorities imposed duties on the import of SIZs from China. As a result, this did not allow them to provide themselves with goods to combat the spread of coronavirus.

According to the Peterson Institute for World Economy, the largest importers of Chinese PPE in 2020 were the United States and the European Union, which purchased $24.6 billion and $23.4 billion worth of protection, respectively. The indicator of Russia was $2 billion against $0.57 billion in 2019.[1]
