2022: Highest number of marriages in 105 years
In Moscow, in 2022, the largest number of marriages in 105 years was registered - more than 110,613. This is 15% more than a year earlier. This was announced on January 24, 2023 by the deputy mayor of the capital for social development Anastasia Rakova.
Most often in 2022, men at the age of 27 and women at the age of 25 married. The most popular wedding date was February 22 (22.02.2022) - on this day about 1.5 thousand couples got married in Moscow. About a thousand more couples chose July 22 (22.07.2022). More than 950 couples married on November 11 (11.11.2022). On April 30, more than 900 weddings were played, and on the Day of Family, Love and Fidelity, July 8, more than 850.
The most popular day of the week was Saturday, it was chosen by 30% of couples, another quarter of the newlyweds got married on Friday. However, weekdays are also popular in summer, so in 2023, wedding grounds became available on weekdays and Sundays.
About 60% of newlyweds chose a solemn ceremony, including in Moscow wedding palaces, the number of which increased from six to nine in 2022. The most popular remains the Wedding Palace No. 1, also known as the Griboyedovsky registry office, more than 8 thousand couples got married here. Wedding Palace No. 4 was chosen by more than 6.5 thousand Muscovites. 4.5 thousand ceremonies took place in the Wedding Palace No. 3.
It is also reported that in 2022 over 14 thousand couples married in unusual places: in stadiums, in mansions, estates, towers of the Moscow City center, on the Moscow cable car, metro stations. The number of ceremonies at such venues in 2022 increased by 40% compared to 2021. In 2022, the OKO tower became the most popular wedding site, more than 1,500 couples married there.[1]
