At the first stage the electronic payment system (EPS) between legal entities was created, on the second – also individuals were connected. Thus, the pilot project of an electronic payment system of NSMEP was implemented according to the resolution of board of the NBU N352 of September 7, 2000 and transferred to the mode of commercial operation in February, 2003.
Members of a system are 55 Ukrainian banks and 7 non-bank institutions. As of May, 2011, the number of the emitted cards of the NSMEP system in Ukraine was a little more than 2.9 million pieces.
