In September 2021, Accenture announced the spending of $4.2 billion on the acquisition of third-party assets at the end of fiscal 2021 (ended on August 31, 2021 calendar year). According Julia Sweet to the CEO of the company, the company was able to achieve strong profit growth despite large investments that did not exist before. In addition to spending on M&A deals, we are talking about the allocation of $1.1 billion for the research and development of "assets, platforms and industry solutions," which also include more than 8,200 patents and applications for registration of intellectual property.

In 2021, Accenture bought 46 companies, and in 2022 it is planned to spend another $4 billion on the purchase. An analyst during a conference on the publication of financial statements at the end of September 2021 suggested that such a large number of purchases increases the risks associated with such transactions. Julia Sweet stated that from this point of view, Accenture is protected by several factors, among which is a wealth of years of experience in properly setting up the integration of absorbed assets and choosing highly qualified executives.
