Avanan appeared in 2015. It's one of the fastest-growing email security vendors in cloud environments. The company developed and patented a specialized API based on artificial intelligence technologies to block messages that pose a threat - before they reach the end mailboxes. At the time of the acquisition of Check Point, the company had more than 5,000 customers with a total number of mailboxes of more than 2.5 million.

Until a certain point in development, Avanan was sold directly to mainly small and medium-sized businesses, although recently the company has tried to expand its audience.

According to the press service of Check Point, a solution combining the protective technologies of both companies will become a product that provides protection remote workers against, harmful files links phishing attacks and immediately across the entire range of environments used - including in email, collaboration tools, Internet local networks and endpoints.

The cost of the transaction will be[1] 250-300 million dollars. For Check Point, this is the largest acquisition. Avanan is a small company, its staff at the end of August 2021 is only 100 people. During its independent operation, it attracted investments totaling $41.4 million.

The size of the transaction indicates that Check Point views the acquisition as extremely promising. Avanan technologies are obviously the "missing links" for the Check Point offering. With them, the company will be able to obtain significant competitive qualities, not to mention the expansion of the customer base,
said Alexey Vodiasov, technical director of SEC Consult Services.

Current customers of both companies will be able to use both Check Point and Avanan technologies at the same time.

All current Avanan workers will join Check Point Technologies. Avanan co-founder and CEO Gil Friedrich will become vice president of Check Point's email protection line[2].
