Earlier, Roskomnadzor ordered large international companies, Russian organizations, social networks and web services to localize personal data of Russian users, but the requirement of the federal service was not met by some companies, so they are issued fines.

By the end of February 2024, Badoo does not work in Russia and Belarus - web services are not available to local users, including a mobile web service and a version of the site for personal computers. In addition, the Badoo app has been removed from the local App Store, Google Play Store and Huawei App Gallery. According to Bumble, which owns this dating service, the Russian and Belarusian markets accounted for about 2.8% of annual revenue.[1]

2019: Badoo's inclusion in Magiclab holding

In 2019, Andrei Andreev merged his dating projects into the Magiclab holding, becoming also its general director. The holding, in addition to Badoo and Bumble, includes the gay app Chappy and the dating service for people over 50 years old Lumen.

In November 2019, Andreev and Finam sold MagicLab to the Blackstone Foundation for $3 billion.

At the time of the transaction, Badoo has 450 million users, of which 30 million in Russia. Badoo is headquartered in London at this time.

2017:354 million registered

As of the summer of 2017, Badoo registered 354 million people worldwide, which exceeds the US population. 300,000 new users join the Badoo community every day.

2012:150 million users

The social network for dating new people Badoo has announced the registration of a 150 million user, a significant achievement for the company.

According to Alexa and comScore, Badoo has become one of the five largest social networks in the world, as well as a leader in the fast-growing market for "social search" platforms, where the priority is to find new acquaintances using mobile applications.

Badoo's main priority in 2012 was international development, in particular in the USA, Great Britain, Germany and Eastern Europe, the company said.

Since the network's official launch in the United States in March 2012, Badoo has attracted more than eight million people and is rapidly gaining popularity in major metropolitan areas such as New York (where Badoo recently launched its first advertising campaign), Miami, Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston and others.

Badoo usage is growing rapidly across all mobile platforms, including iOS, Android and Mobile Web. In markets such as the United States, the number of new people registering from mobile devices has already exceeded the number of new users using regular Internet access, and 68% of new users access the site from mobile devices.

2011:100 million users

The number of Badoo users has exceeded 100 million, and the Facebook application is the third most popular in the world, it has been installed by more than 40 million people (data as of February 2011).

2010:80 million audience

As of November 2010, Badoo's audience is about 80 million people, the site competes with the leader of European free online dating services Plentyoffish (135 million), says market analyst Mark Brooks from New York Courtland Brooks.

According to Neil Bryant, CEO of the company, "20% of users pay to raise their profile [once euro] once a month, and some do it eight to nine times a day." According to the most conservative estimates, Badoo's annual revenue (excluding payments for virtual gifts and many other functions) should exceed $200 million.

According to people who know Andreev, he is preparing the company for going public. Remsha, who increased Finam's stake in Badoo to 20%, did not hear anything about it, but considers the IPO quite possible - the main thing is that the founder is satisfied with the price. "It is clear to those who know Andrei," he says, "that he will not agree to less than $1 billion."

2009: Finam increases stake in Badoo service to 20%

In November 2009, Finam doubled its stake in the British social network Badoo to 20%[2]. For three years, the network has become profitable, the investment company claims. Finam exercised an option received in 2007 with the purchase of 10% Badoo for $30 million.

The 2009 network finished with 48 million registered visitors.

2007:12 million users. Finam buys 10% of the company with a total valuation of $300 million

In 2007, Finam bought a 10% stake in Badoo from Andreev, valuing the entire company at $300 million.

By the end of 2007, Badoo had 12 million registered users.

A year after the launch, Badoo.com Google noted in his review of Year-End Zeitgeist-2007 ("Spirit of Time-2007") that in terms of the number of requests, Badoo bypassed all world novelties except. iPhone

Not all reviews were unequivocally positive. As the rating web agency TopTenReviews noted, "Badoo is an interesting site that unfortunately put us in a difficult position: it is a mixture of chat, dating service and photo rating, disguised as a social network." Listing the flaws, including the "abundance of spam," the agency still put Badoo on a par with c, Facebook MySpace and Bebo. True, Russia Badoo could not squeeze out Mamba. But in,, France Spain Portugal, Latin America and Nigeria, it was accepted with a bang.

2006: Creating a Badoo.com Service

In February 2005, the manager of the advertising agency Young & Rubicam, Michael Gere, met a dark-haired, skulent guy who was looking for a CEO in his new project. Thirty-year-old Internet entrepreneur Andrei Andreev sat down Gir at the monitor to show the electronic dating service launched a year earlier Mamba.ru. The number of users registered in it exceeded one million and increased by 7,000 every day. Andreev explained that he wants to promote Mamba in the West and this requires the expat team to translate it into foreign languages.

This idea never came to fruition. In October 2005, when the number of questionnaires in the Mamba database exceeded 4.5 million, the most popular Russia dating site was acquired for $20 million by the investment holding Finam"." Almost all the money went to Andreev, says the founder of Finam. Victor Remsha

Although the globalization of "Mamba" did not take place, Andreev nevertheless entered the global Internet dating market.

In 2006, he created the Badoo.com website and the firm of the same name, headquartered in London. Gir became its CEO.
