Special economic zones of the technical and innovative type, which include the Dubna SEZ TVT, are created in order to increase the share of Russia's presence in world markets for high-tech products, to develop mechanisms for concentrating intellectual and other resources in modern conditions in a certain territory to solve priority problems in the scientific and technical sphere.

For 2015, the total area is 187.7 hectares. 92 companies operate on the territory of the SEZ, most of which specialize in IT, nuclear physics, bio- and medical technologies, and the design of complex systems.
