Founded in 2016, startup GoStudent provides parents and their children with an online platform to find a tutor in more than 30 school subjects. Initially, users of the service exchanged knowledge with each other in the format of Q&A, the rapid development of GoStudent allowed to expand the service to provide full training lessons, including preparation for passing exams. Before starting work with GoStudent, all tutors are tested, parents can evaluate the teacher according to a trial lesson, educational programs with students are compiled individually.

History

2021: Attraction of 205 million euros, including from DST Global

In mid-June 2021, the online educational platform GoStudent, designed for interaction between students and tutors, attracted 205 million euros. The investment round of series C was headed by the fund of Yuri MilneradST Global, SoftBank also invested in the startup through their fund, Tencent, Dragoneer and previous investors: Coatue, Left Lane Capital and DN Capital.

According to the results of the last round, the GoStudent estimate increased to 1.4 billion euros. In total, the startup raised 291 million euros, including 70 million euros in the round, which ended in March 2021 and 13.3 million euros in the series A round in November 2020.

DST Global Yuri Milner invested in a service for tutors and students GoStudent

By June 2021, the Austrian startup operates in 18 countries, about 400,000 online lessons are held on the platform monthly, which is 700% more compared to 2020. According to GoStudent, by the end of 2021 the number of employees will double, the platform will be able to provide work to 10,000 teachers. The startup plan is to cover more countries, Mexico and Canada are a priority. The GoStudent will also continue to increase the number of tutors and the list of items covered by the service.

The pandemic had a mixed impact, "said co-founder and CEO Felix Oswald. - On the one hand, there was a natural demand from children and parents. But with the closure of schools, there was less pressure, fewer exams, less demand for extracurricular activities. This aspect had a negative effect. But in a broader sense, digital education has received great momentum. Thus, the thinking of parents and families has changed dramatically.[1]
