OJSC Gorno-Altaysk Airport is the air gate of the Altai Republic.

After a 15-year break in the work of air transportation, the Airport in 2010 resumed regular flights between Gorno-Altai and Novosibirsk. In June 2011, new flights appeared from Gorno-Altaysk - to Surgut and Nizhnevartovsk.

From 2008 to 2011, the company was allowed to receive and maintain 3 new types of aircraft. Also in this period, all services providing ground service for flights were certified. In 2011, a reconstructed airfield complex was put into operation, which includes a 2300-meter runway, an apron, and aircraft parking lots. New modern equipment has appeared at the new airfield: lighting masts, lighting equipment, landing system.

Gorno-Altaysk Airport can serve medium-haul aircraft, such as Boeing-737 of all types, A-319, A-320, Tu-204.

2024: Sberbank bought 40% of Gorno-Altaysk airport from AFK Sistema

Sberbank bought 40% of Gorno-Altaysk airport from AFK Sistema and became its sole owner. This was announced on April 23, 2024 by the chairman of the board of the credit institution German Gref without specifying the details of the transaction.

Sberbank bought 40% of Gorno-Altaysk airport from AFK Sistema

According to him, the airport will receive international status. Its capacity, as noted by German Gref, will reach 1.5 million passengers a year. In 2023, the airport's passenger traffic increased by 31.8% compared to 2022 - to 429.2 thousand people.

German Gref also said that the Russian authorities will invest in lengthening the runway by 500 meters, in the construction of aprons and in a new system of lighting and navigation equipment.

As Interfax reminds, before AFK Sistema owned 60% of Gorno-Altaysk Airport JSC, the structure of Sberbank - 40%.

Sistema Telecom Assets LLC (part of AFK Sistema) in its report reported that in March 2024 the company entered into an agreement to sell a 60 percent stake in the subsidiary (its name was not disclosed). The transaction amount is 2.4 billion rubles.

Earlier, the head of the Altai Republic, Oleg Khorokhordin, in a conversation with RIA Novosti, said that in 2026 a new terminal will be built at the Gorno-Altaysk airport, which will be able to receive up to a million passengers a year. Later, German Gref specified that the capacity of the new air harbor could be 1.2 million people.[1]

2020: More than 300 million rubles will be allocated for the reconstruction of Gorno-Altaysk airport

More than 300 million rubles will be directed to the reconstruction of the Gorno-Altaysk airport, the press service of the Altai Republic reports in August 2020.

Financing will be carried out at the expense of the owners of the air harbor, Sberbank and AFK Sistema. Investors intend to implement a project to expand the existing terminal. With an increase in passenger traffic, the airport may receive international status.

At the end of 2019, passenger traffic for the first time exceeded 100 thousand people, and despite the pandemic, its further growth is predicted. In 2020, the route network was significantly expanded, and flights within the region were resumed.
