2022: Institute for Advanced Strategic Studies established in Russia

At the end of May 2022, it became known about the creation of the Institute for Advanced Strategic Studies (IPSI) on the basis of the National Research University Higher School of Economics (HSE). The new institution was headed by the former secretary of the Security Council of Russia, deputy head of the scientific director of the Higher School of Economics, academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Andrei Kokoshin. He himself told TASS about this .

The Institute in its research is primarily focused on considering fundamental and applied problems, military-technological threats and challenges to the national security of Russia, "Kokoshin explained.

Institute for Advanced Strategic Studies established in Russia

According to him, research in IPSI will be conducted on an interdisciplinary basis with the participation of scientists of both a social and scientific and natural science profile, specialists in the civilian and military spheres. Kokoshin added that the institute will also study the problems of ensuring strategic deterrence in the policy of the Russian Federation, military-political aspects of international security.

The staff of the Institute for Advanced Strategic Studies also included:

• former first deputy head of the Main Directorate of International Military Cooperation Yevgeny Buzhinsky;
• ex-chief of the General Staff of the Strategic Missile Forces (Strategic Missile Forces) - First Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Strategic Missile Forces Viktor Yesin;
• former head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation - Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the RF Armed Forces Alexander Shlyakhturov.

Financing of IPSI activities is carried out at the expense of the budget of the thematic plan of research work (basic scientific research and applied scientific research), envisaged, among other things, by the state assignment of the National Research University "Higher School economics "and other sources, including research projects and government contracts.^[1]
