2022: Discovery

The first design center for power electronics in Russia opened in Novosibirsk at the end of November 2022. It has become a "natural continuation" of the Institute of Power Electronics [as part of the Novosibirsk State Technical University/NSTU], where prototypes of power hybrid modules for aerospace use are developed, designed and will be manufactured, the scientific director of the design center Sergei Kharitonov told reporters.

At the end of November 2022, the first stage of the power electronics design center was launched. It is expected that the second stage of the center will be launched in 2023. As part of the third, it is planned to switch to the manufacture of flip chips, on which elements are increased in layers. By 2030, the commercialization of design center developments will reach hundreds of millions of rubles. The main consumer of the development of organizations is ISS named after Reshetnyova.

Within the framework of the project, researchers are developing equipment for nanosatellites, while a domestic and Belarusian element base is used to manufacture current converters.

Hybrid technology involves the placement of electronic elements (transistors, capacitors, etc.) without housings on the printed circuit board, while the common body of the device performs the function of heat removal. According to Kharitonov, hybrid technologies make it possible to create more compact and, accordingly, energy-efficient DC converters for satellites, aircraft, and high-power energy storage. For the manufacture of current converters, a domestic and Belarusian element base is used, the specialist noted.

According to him, about 200 million rubles are needed to fully complete the second stage of the project. About 150 million rubles were spent on the first place.[1]
