Professor Anatoly Maslov received 14 years in prison for treason

In May 2024, the St. Petersburg City Court sentenced to 14 years in prison the chief researcher at the Institute of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics named after S. A. Khristianovich of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor of Novosibirsk State Technical University (NSTU) Anatoly Maslov. The scientist was found guilty of treason (Article 275 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). Read more here.

Opening of the specialized laboratory of Astra Group

A specialized laboratory "Astra Group" has been opened at the Novosibirsk State Technical University of NETI. The implementation of the project will train specialists who meet the high requirements of the Russian market in the field of cybersecurity and IT. Thanks to this educational platform, more than 150 students will annually master the demanded digital competencies on domestic IT solutions. Astra Group announced this on April 11, 2024.

The opening ceremony of the Astra Laboratory was attended by the Minister of Digital Development and Communications of the Novosibirsk Region Sergey Tsukar.

NSTU NETI is one of the leading IT personnel training universities in the region. The opening of the Astra Group infrastructure software laboratory will help us in solving the most important task of switching to domestic solutions. By the end of 2023, the level of import substitution of state information systems in our country exceeds 96%. In the work on the transfer of automated jobs of civil servants to domestic solutions, we reached an indicator of 84.5%. According to the strategy of digital transformation of the Novosibirsk region, in 2024 we will complete the transfer of jobs of civil servants to the Russian office suite, the minister stressed.

This laboratory on the basis of the Department of information protection Automation and Computer Engineering of NSTU NETI will allow teaching students and specialists using advanced domestic information technologies. Students will learn to work effectively with the Russian infrastructure stack, ON perform project tasks, undergo practice and participate in the Astra Career and Astra Scholarship projects.

NSTU NETI is already actively participating in the scholarship programs of Astra Group: in two years, 11 students passed the scholarship selection and carry out projects in the areas set by the company. In addition, the university prepares students and employees for successful certification in curricula confirming the high administration skills of the domestic OCAstra Linux.

According to the rector of NSTU NETI Anatoly Bataev, on the basis of the laboratory it is planned to carry out engineering and scientific work in the interests of the industrial partner and the industry as a whole in a number of relevant areas, including research in the field of analyzing the security of domestic operating systems, increasing the security of wireless networks, as well as adapting information security processes for information systems based on domestic solutions.

The opening program also included lectures and students solving practical problems from Astra Group experts - Deputy Marketing Director Anastasia Spirkova and Senior Engineer Nikita Postnikov.

2014: Scaling the Educational Institution

As of June 16, 2014, NSTU is one of the major universities in the region:

  • more than 14 thousand students;
  • more than 1.5 thousand teachers work;
  • training is carried out in 79 areas (bachelor's and master's) and 5 specialties of higher professional education - physical and mathematical, technical, economic and humanitarian, as well as in 8 specialties and areas of secondary vocational education.

1992: Renamed

In 1992 it was renamed Novosibirsk State Technical University (NSTU).

NSTU was renamed the Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Higher Professional Education "Novosibirsk State Technical University" in accordance with the Federal Law of May 8, 2010. No. 83-FZ and Order of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation F No. 1786 of May 25, 2011.
