RTCOMM is a national telecom operator specializing in the provision of services for building managed virtual private networks, data center services and satellite access. Included in the Rostelecom group of companies.

RTCOMM is a provider of information and communication solutions for government authorities, corporate clients, as well as telecom operators and Internet service providers. The RTKOMM backbone network is based on MPLS/VPN technology and has access nodes in all regions of Russia. Regional representative offices: RTKomm-Siberia, RTKomm-South, RTKomm-Volga-Ural.

As of May 2012, more than 1000 customers in more than 100 cities of the Russian Federation and foreign countries made their choice in favor of the RTCOMM brand.

Areas of activity

  • RTCOMM is actively expanding its satellite infrastructure by putting into operation earth stations that allow remote points to be connected to the network via satellite channels.
  • RTCOMM began implementing services based on the cloud computing platform.
  • RTCOMM is the sole executor of the project to create a high-speed satellite access system in the Ka-band (RCC-VSD) (Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation No. 577 of July 14, 2011).

History

2023: Agreement with Rubetek and SME Corporation to manufacture domestic satellite equipment

The federal operator RTCOMM, Rubetek and SME Corporation entered into a tripartite agreement on the results of the selection for the supply of satellite modems, a central earth communication station and subscriber devices. RTCOMM announced this on October 9, 2023.

As part of the partnership, RTCOMM and Rubetek will collaborate to develop, test and launch equipment for the terrestrial segment of the operator's satellite networks into mass production. The SME Corporation will monitor the implementation of the supplier development program and provide the necessary information, legal and other support to the parties.

The program for "growing" suppliers is being implemented within the framework of the national project "Small and Medium Enterprises" with the participation of the SME Corporation under the supervision of First Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Belousov. In the course of the program, potential suppliers are provided with various kinds of support: financial, legal, methodological, information and other. As of October 2023, more than 70 customers are already engaged in supporting SME suppliers. Approved 15 programs, about 17 state-owned companies plan to use a similar mechanism,

The selection procedure took place among Russian representatives of small and medium-sized businesses on the SME Digital Platform as part of the "Growing Suppliers" Program, which RTKOM joined in early 2023. The development mechanism also involves the conclusion of long-term contracts between companies with state participation and Russian organizations. Under such contracts, the supplier invests in production, and the customer undertakes to purchase products or services from him in a certain amount for several years.

2020: Agreement on cooperation with the Satellite System "Gonets" to study the possibilities of using the resources of various satellite communication systems

On January 13, 2020, it became known that RTCOM and the Gonets Satellite System signed a cooperation agreement opening up prospects for studying the possibilities of using the resources of various satellite communication systems to increase the availability of modern telecommunications services throughout Russia.

The agreement will allow to outline the prospects for cooperation in the development and promotion of converged technological solutions on the Russian market, providing the possibility of automation of production and business processes for customers in the corporate and public sector, to ensure the provision of high-quality mobile satellite communication and relay services.

2019: "РТКомм.РУ" came out on top in the number of VSAT stations (27.3 thousand)

On January 31, 2020, RTCOM JSC (a 100% subsidiary of PJSC Rostelecom) announced that, according to the analytical magazine Standard, it had become the leader in the number of connected subscribers - VSAT stations. So, as of the end of 2019, this number amounted to 27.3 thousand. In 2018, RTKomm was the third market player in this indicator with 23.1 thousand stations.

According to him, RTCOMM systematically and comprehensively develops and implements modern satellite solutions in the interests of the state and all categories of customers. Traditionally, strong partnerships with large businesses and telecom operators are the foundation of the company's dynamic development.

Having chosen the connection of Internet access services for legal entities and individuals under TM SenSat as a point of business growth in 2016, RTKOM is growing in terms of natural indicators in this segment as well. Judging by the stable dynamics of connections, the implementation of the project was a timely solution that was in line with the mission and strategic task of RTCOMM - to make satellite Internet massively accessible, the company concluded.

Another area that RTKOM is actively developing is the Marine VSAT service. As of January 31, 2020, it is in demand among all categories of customers whose activities are related to sea transportation. The RTCOMM service area is the entire territory of the Eurasian continent, including coastal and marine zones.

2015: "РТКомм.РУ" plans to provide farms with satellite Internet anywhere in Russia

The national telecom operator "RTCOM," which is part of the group of companies Rostelecom"," together with the Development Assistance Fund agriculture "Unified Center for Agricultural Development" in order to create a federal "Unified Telecommunication Network of Agricultural Producers" Russia begins to deploy a network of VSAT stations in places where hard-to-reach peasant farms are located to provide these farms with broadband Internet access service[2]

"РТКомм.РУ" plans to provide farms with high-speed satellite Internet anywhere in Russia, and the software and hardware complex "Zarya Farmer Workstation," developed by the Fund, will solve the problem of low computer literacy in the countryside and serve as an effective tool for the development of agricultural enterprises and their connection to public services portals, electronic business development resources, Internet trade, telemedicine, etc. The beginning of the project is the creation of a pilot zone in the Kaluga region.

2012

Participation in the organization of broadcasting on the Internet of the election of the President of the Russian Federation

In early 2012, RTKOM participated in organizing a broadcast on the Internet of the presidential elections. Through the satellite channels of the RTKOM network, 3,700 precinct election commissions were connected. An absolute speed record was set for the inclusion of VSAT terminals in the Ku-band - 3700 units in 1.5 months. Prior to this, the record also belonged to RTKOM when connecting schools to the Internet in 2007 - 1500 VSAT per month.

Purchase of KM Media

In May 2012, it became known that the Federal antimo­no­polnaya sluzh­ba (FAS) gave RTKomm consent to the purchase of 74.99% of KM Media. KM Media is a software developer who was part of the KM Online group. According to a source close to KM Media, this company mainly creates software for the needs of KM online, although it also has third-party projects. The general director of KM Media at the time of the transaction was Alexey Pigalev#[3]

The owner of RTKomm, Rostelecom, is the only contractor for the creation of an electronic government in Russia, provided for by the federal program Information Society. From the text of this program it follows that Rostelecom, among other things, is responsible for "the development of information search tools for various types of content."

A source in Rostelecom did not rule out that KM Media could be useful for e-government projects, but drew attention to the fact that this company is also engaged in educational projects. And Rostelecom has plans related to the creation of an interactive educational channel for broadcasting in schools: the operator intends to use for this project the platform and equipment installed in schools for video broadcasting of the presidential election on March 4, 2012. Rostelecom will use OTT technology (Over-the-Top, video signal delivery via the Internet) for broadcasting educational programs, feature films and performances to schools, as well as special content, the production of which Rostelecom will establish itself, its president Alexander Provotorov told Vedomosti.

2008

Since 2008, RTCOMM has been part of the Rostelecom group of companies. The shareholders of RTCOMM are OJSC Rostelecom (99.51%) and OJSC Svyazinvest (0.49%).

2003

In 2003, RTCOMM was the third company in Russia to start providing IP VPN services. Already in 2008, our company became the leader in this segment - more than 40% of the market. There is practically no department or state. structure in our country, in the construction of a departmental data transmission network of which RTKOM would not participate. A number of key corporate sector organizations (banks, industrial enterprises) were also clients of RTCOMM.

2000

Since its organization in February 2000, RTKOM has provided backbone Internet access services for operators. As an operator for RTCOMM operators, it controlled up to 60% of the main traffic in the Russian Federation.

In 2000, the RTKOM Data Center on MMTS-10 was one of the first data centers in Russia. Over the following years, RTKOM expanded its network of data centers and introduced modern services. Since 2011, we have been one of the first in the country to provide cloud services.
