OJSC TGK-16, part of the TAIF Group of Companies, is a generating company that includes thermal power plants (Kazanskaya TETs-3 and Nizhnekamsk TPP-1), the main purpose of which is to provide power to large industrial units of the oil and gas chemical complex of the Republic of Tatarstan in the cities of Kazan and Nizhnekamsk.

According to the composition of the installed equipment, the TGK-16 energy company is unique not only in the republic, but also in Russia as a whole. The installed electric capacity of generating facilities of OJSC TGK-16 is 1300 MW, the installed thermal capacity is significant and reaches 6563 MW, including the design steam supply for production - 3611 MW, thermal energy with hot water - 2952 MW.


OJSC TGK-16 is a division of the TAIF group of companies. It was created on February 24, 2010. On June 1, it began production activities for the operation of property energy complexes on the territory of Kazan TETs-3 and Nizhnekamsk CHPP-1.

Nizhnekamsk CHPP (PTK-1) is located on the industrial zone of Nizhnekamsk and is the largest industrial CHPP of the Republic of Tatarstan. Its installed electric capacity is 880 MW, thermal - 3746 Gcal/h. Nizhnekamsk Thermal Power Plant (PTK-1) was commissioned in 1967-1977, provides heat and electricity to industrial enterprises and more than half of the city of Nizhnekamsk.

"Kazan TETs-3" is located in the North-West district of Kazan and is the largest station of the Kazan energy hub. Its installed electric capacity is 420 MW, thermal - 1897 Gcal/h. TPP provides reliable and uninterrupted power supply to a large part of industrial, housing, communal and agricultural facilities in Kazan. Kazan Heat and Power Plant No. 3 (KTETs-3) was commissioned in 1967-1973, provides heat and electricity to industrial enterprises and adjacent residential areas of Kazan. Thus, OJSC "TGK-16" occupies more than half of the thermal energy market among generating companies in the republic.

Continuous work to improve energy efficiency and reduce fuel costs, coupled with optimization of capacity utilization, strengthens the competitive advantage of TGK-16 in the sale of energy products in the wholesale electricity market. In terms of fuel efficiency, TGK-16 is the leader among all energy companies of the Republic of Tatarstan with combined generation of electricity and heat.

Among the energy-generating companies of the Russian Federation, OJSC TGK-16 is currently one of the most advanced in the field of energy saving. According to the results of 2013 the specific consumption of conventional fuel for electricity supply amounted to 289.6 g/kWh. With this indicator of fuel costs per unit of production, OJSC TGK-16 is one of the five most energy efficient companies in the industry.

2023: Sibur sold TAIF to an energy company TGK-16

Sibur sold TAIF to the TGK-16 energy company. This became known on May 2, 2023. The financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

2021: Sibur bought an energy company from TAIF TGK-16

Sibur"" bought TGK-16 in October 2021 as part of a deal to buy oil and gas chemical assets of the Tatarstan group.
