2021: "Учи.ру" bought 8.7% TutorOnline

At the end of July 2021, it became known that the online school "Учи.ру" bought 8.7% in the company TutorOnline. The latter intends to use the attracted investments to develop the platform, content projects and increase the user base. In addition, the platform plans to actively scale in the markets of the USA and the European Union. More than a third of its revenue TutorOnline receives abroad - in the EU countries, in the USA and Canada.

The fact that Учи.ру bought a stake in TutorOnline was told to Vedomosti in both companies, without disclosing the financial terms of the agreement. The deal to acquire 8.7% in TutorOnline could cost Учи.ру 200-400 million rubles when evaluating the entire asset for a multiplier of 5-10 annual revenues, said Sergey Libin, telecommunications and media analyst at Raiffeisen Bank. The expert suggested that the co-owner of "Учи.ру" - Mail.ru Group plans to make a "bridgehead" for investments in EdTech on the basis of this asset.

According to Ilya Parshin, CEO of Учи.ру, investment in TutorOnline will allow the platform to expand its share in the online tutoring market in high school and high school.

For "Учи.ру" this is the third deal in 2021. Earlier, the company bought the educational portal "Your Lesson" and became the owner of a 15% stake in the network of offline programming schools "CodClass."[1]
