Eltsin" is a federal university of Russia, created on the basis of the oldest universities in the Urals - UGTU-UPI and USU. 2024: Organic films for charging pacemakers developed in Russia

The Center for Engineering Development of the Ural Federal University received orders for 150 million rubles

According to him, the university won a grant from the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation for 255 million rubles. These funds are used to create and equip the engineering development center

The new division of the Ural university will work in close cooperation with the Engineering Center for Digital Engineering Technologies (ICTM UrFU), which has a wealth of experience in engineering and is actively engaged in the development and production of import-substituting products.

The tasks of the engineering development center will include the implementation of research, development, production of critical components and technologies for objects of domestic industry. The grant won by the Ural Federal University will provide an opportunity to purchase high-precision equipment to expand the production capacities of the university, which will make it possible to manufacture import-preserving products with improved characteristics and consumer properties.

KamAZ Eco-Friendly Engine Development Center Development Plan

Cooperation with Huawei in Russia in the field of training ICT specialists

Plans to create an IT Competency Accelerator together with SKB Kontur

SKB Kontur on February 4, 2021 announced that, together with UrFU, they signed an agreement on the creation of the Ural consortium "IT Competence Accelerator."

By 2024, an educational center for the training of specialists in the field of information technology (IT) will appear on the territory of Kontur Park.

The Ural consortium "Accelerator of IT Competencies" (AKSIT) is built on the basis of public-private partnership. The agreement on its creation was signed on February 4, 2021 by the general director of SKB Kontur Yevgeny Filatov and the rector of the Ural Federal University Viktor Koksharov.

About 5,000 people will study annually - from schoolchildren to older people.

The accelerator should support those who have the skills in mathematics and computer science and train the specialists that the digital economy needs. Thus, AKSIT will become a platform for the digital transformation of the economy of the Ural macro-region.

On July 10, 2019, SKB Kontur announced that it would assist the UrFU in developing the direction of training under the Fundamental Informatics and Information Technologies program.

The agreement on joint educational activities was signed by the rector of Ural Federal University Viktor Koksharov and the general director of SKB Kontur Evgeny Filatov.

According to Koksharov, UrFU is becoming the largest IT training center outside of Moscow and St. Petersburg. If in 2019 the university accepts 900 people for budget places in IT, then in 2020 more than 1,300 are planned.

2018: Plans to open the SAP Next-Gen Lab

On July 9, 2018, SAP, TMK and Ural Federal University (UrFU, Yekaterinburg) entered into an agreement in which they expressed their intention to open at the university Innovative SAP Next-Gen Lab. It is planned that student and teaching teams will develop and test solutions for metallurgical companies using advanced technologies: blockchain, industrial Internet of Things, augmented reality, machine learning and computer vision. It is assumed that TMK will become the key task manager for laboratory projects.

SAP Next-Gen Lab plans to work on several groups of promising industrial scenarios. The first area is the development of projects based on video recognition in order to monitor the quality of products, labeling on the product, as well as work on industrial safety and labor protection. The second area of ​ ​ projects is text recognition and analysis for intelligent reconciliation of accounts and liquidity forecast. The third is projects based on the industrial Internet of Things and augmented reality to create digital twins and effectively maintain and repair equipment.

To work on projects, the laboratory is supposed to be equipped with the necessary technical equipment with the support of SAP. In addition, it is planned to provide access to SAP platform solutions for prototyping using advanced technologies. The format of student work provides for project seminars, hackathons, master classes, injections, trainings, as well as access to an extensive library of SAP training materials.

SAP Next-Gen Lab is an initiative of the SAP University Alliance. Innovative laboratories are being created on the basis of universities, in which students work on real projects. The teams are tasked by SAP customers and partners. More than 80 such laboratories have already been opened all over the world, 8 of which are at Russian educational sites: ITMO University, MTU (MIREA), HSE, Orlenok VDC, Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas, etc.

2011: Inclusion of USU in the university

On May 12, 2011, Ural State University (USU) became part of the Ural Federal University and ceased to exist as an independent legal entity.
