The VimpelCom development strategy in terms of IT competencies is aimed at using products and solutions of its own design. VK-IT has a full range of competencies for this and in 2022 was concentrated on the formation of a software development and support center for the widest possible range of beeline tasks. Expanding the list of products under development, the range of work performed and the corresponding increase in the number of teams and specialists became the main drivers of VK-IT revenue growth last year, "Sergey Khorkov, general director of VK-IT, told TAdviser.

Building a Company to Grow IT Products

In early April 2021, VimpelCom announced the creation of a subsidiary that will develop and support IT products. VimpelCom-Information Technologies LLC (VK-IT) was formed within the framework of the competence center development strategy, which the telecommunications operator has been implementing for several years.

VK-IT will develop technological products for VimpelCom and Veon holding, including software, which the company will also implement. In addition, the "daughter" of the telecom operator will be engaged in the operation of software, support its work and add new functions.

VK-IT will take over both the development of new and the development of existing IT products previously created by outsourcing companies commissioned by VymelCom. In particular, we are talking about infrastructure platforms, mobile applications and user interfaces. The company plans to develop competencies in all major technology stacks.
