History

2017: Bilateral satellite Internet

The Russian company "NTV Plus" together with operator of the satellite Internet Eutelsat Networks started in July, 2017 rendering service of the high-speed bilateral satellite Internet for physical persons and legal entities, Russian Cableman reports. For natural persons 10 tariff plans — 9 constants with a limit of the volume of traffic and 1 promotional unlimited are provided.

Service cost with a limit of traffic is from 275 rubles to 14 thousand rubles a month, depending on a rate. The subscriber receives 1 GB of the Internet for 275 rubles a month at a speed up to 40 Mbit/sec. (speed of the outgoing channel — 12 Mbit/sec.). If the user exceeds a limit, then each subsequent gigabyte will cost it additional 290 rubles. For 14 thousand rubles a month 100 GB of the Internet (are already available to the subscriber at the same speed), and each "excess" GB is rated at the price of 140 rubles.

The unlimited Internet costs 990 rubles a month, but speed is 20 Mbit/sec. for the incoming traffic and up to 5 Mbit/sec. — for outgoing. It is possible to be connected to unlimited SShPD till September 30, 2017, since October 1 this offer will disappear from a tariff line of NTV Plus. But for those who will manage to connect the unlimited Internet the cost of service and after October 1 will remain the same. For service blackout is not provided. It means that at exhaustion of pre-paid volume of traffic speed will be reduced to 64 Kbps.

Connection cost for natural persons is up to 37 thousand rubles. This amount includes purchase of the equipment directly and connection which will cost 5-7 thousand rubles.

The satellite Internet is provided due to use of resources of the satellite "To express AMU1 ″ (Eutelsat 36C) and is available in all European territory of Russia, the Urals and Western Siberia.

NTV Plus calculates that this service will be demanded also among TV-subscribers, especially those who are interested in use of interactive opportunities and services. For this purpose the company studies different versions of stocks which, for example, would provide a discount for the equipment at simultaneous connection of the satellite Internet and television services.

The press service of Rostelecom commented on this information as follows: "We study the market. Satellite television - technology, complementary for us, which allows to increase availability of service of a pay TV. So far no decisions on this occasion were made".
