Biography

Boris Shcherbakov graduated in 1977 from the Faculty of Economics of MGIMO. Fluent in English and Arabic.

Until 1990, he worked in the system of the USSR Ministry of Foreign Trade, as well as the USSR Ministry of Defense.

At the end of 1991, he began his career in commercial companies, becoming the head of the personal computers department of HP's local office.

In 1997-98. worked as vice president for computing and office equipment, and later vice president for marketing at the Party distributor.

Then in 1998-1999. was senior vice president of Merisel, from where he moved to Oracle. Shcherbakov worked at Oracle for 13 years. Until 2010, he was the head of the representative office, general director and vice president of Oracle for sales in Russia and the CIS. Later, after the acquisition of Sun, he worked as CEO of Oracle Hardware, vice president of hardware sales in Russia and the CIS countries. The leadership of the Russian Oracle as a whole passed to Valery Lanovenko.

On May 31, 2012, Shcherbakov left Oracle. According to experts, Oracle's hardware business was in a difficult situation. However, CNews interlocutors tend to blame this not on specific managers, but on market conditions.

Boris Shcherbakov began his career at Dell in the fall of 2012. September 10 was his first working day as CEO of Dell in Russia. This position in the company has been free since the end of 2011. The last CEO of the Russian Dell was Nick Rossiter, who headed it for just a few months since August 2011. Shcherbakov served as Dell CEO in Russia, Kazakhstan and Central Asia and was responsible for the business strategy of the corporate and consumer areas of the company in the region.

Since February 2017, Boris Shcherbakov has headed the Russian office of Dell EMC. He is responsible for the development of all Dell EMC business areas - infrastructure solutions, services and client systems - in Russia, Kazakhstan and Central Asia.

In 2019 - Vice President and CEO of Dell Technologies in Russia, Kazakhstan and Central Asia.

2022: Leaving Dell Technologies

On April 26, 2022, on his page on the social network Facebook (recognized as an extremist organization and banned in) Russia , Boris Shcherbakov said that this was his last day at Dell Technologies.

The departure of the vice president and CEO of Dell Technologies in Russia, Kazakhstan and Central Asia was preceded by a Dell message about the suspension of sales in Russia amid a special operation in Ukraine. The company was one of the first in the technological market to take such a step - two days after the start of the special operation.

According to IDC, in the 4th quarter of 2021, Dell Technologies was the leader in both the number of delivered systems and revenue in the Russian market for servers with x86 architecture, which accounted for 99.6% of shipments in quantitative terms. In the PC market in Russia, the company occupied the 5th place with a 6% share.

Softline Group, a provider of solutions and services in the field of digital transformation and information security, has formed the Board of Directors.
