Biography

Vladimir Nikolaevich Velichko was born in Nizhny Novgorod, in family of the talented aquarellist Nikolay Velichko, in 1956.

In 1975 it graduated from the Nizhny Novgorod art school, and in 1980 — the Kharkiv art and industrial institute.

Since 1985 Vladimir Velichko actively participates in many Russian and international exhibitions. Personal exhibitions of the artist took place in Germany, Canada, Spain, India, Malaysia, on Malta and Cyprus. Works by Velichko are in a collection of Nizhny Novgorod State Art Museum, in private Russian and foreign collections.

Creative credo of the artist is devoted worship of nature, aspiration to transfer uniqueness of the home ground. Working in traditional technology of watercolor painting, Velichko aims to imprint the most different sides of the world around, its past and the present, to show ancient, stately in the beauty, cultural monuments, steady archetypes of the people living in these or those places of our planet and at the same time signs of promptly changing present.

In Nizhny Novgorod the great number of the artists belonging to the most various creative schools and styles works, two hundred seventy of them are included into the local organization of the Union of artists of Russia formed in the city in 1933. Since 1997 the chairman of the organization is Vladimir Velichko.

Vladimir Velichko was conferred many awards and awards, in 2002 to him the rank "Honored Artist of Russia" was given.

Genre attachments of the artist are wide and various. Monuments of orthodox culture, historical places of Russia, views of Nizhny Novgorod are here subjects which the artist repeatedly addresses. Traveling much, Velichko brings the whole series of views of the well-known and little-known cities from trips. The artist manages to feel spirit of the city, its silhouette and to reflect them in various watercolor technicians. In the sheets written on crude, and the la prima, and in a classical lessirovochny manner of Velichko reaches unusual figurative accuracy.

In a still life genre the artist aims at material and impressive, volume and space a feather - to giving objective world. Ceremonial and representative portraits of a brush of Vladimir Velichko not only are objective, but also is vital are elegant.

Critics call the works of the artist performed in different technicians "expression of a light image of life".
