As noted in Fortinet, most customers are in the midst of their own, digital transformation they use hybrid cloud architectures for both remote and local computing, as well as for deployment, SaaS applications while creating several network peripherals in addition to WAN and border access infrastructure. This explosive growth of peripherals, each of which requires protection, forces organizations to spend a lot of effort on implementing the appropriate level of security throughout the distributed enterprise. The difficulties in managing these peripherals, including due to the abundance of often very difficult, cross-functional point products and equipment, make this task even more difficult. The increase in the number of devices connected to branch networks, IoT as well as their growing diversity, open up new opportunities for hackers those who seek access to confidential ones. to data In addition, customers implementing SD-WAN are faced with the need to tighter their integration LAN platforms to leverage Secure SD-WAN capabilities to work with their entire network to improve security and management capabilities.

As digital transformation continues to fundamentally change how businesses do business, it is important for organizations that all parts of the network are protected and aligned with each other, so as not to jeopardize the capabilities of the digital business. In order for affiliates to realize their full potential, they need secure, real-time access to data and resources wherever they are located.

To help today's distributed businesses cope with emerging challenges, Fortinet has introduced a complete Secure SD-Branch solution that enables customers to manage security and network access as one and extends Fortinet Security Fabric's portfolio to branch level. Fortinet Secure SD-Branch consists of firewall the Next-Generation FortiGate, Firewall FortiNAC Network Access Control, switchboard FortiSwitch access points , and FortiAP Access Points. According to the developer, the solution provides security in two key areas:

  • Network Edge - In addition to the firewall, customers gain access-level protection with the FortiSwitch switch and FortiAP access points. The solution consolidates the infrastructure through the convergence of security and network access control features and is the architecture that is optimal for deploying Secure SD-Branch. Access Points WiFi 6 FortiAP Access Points have increased capacity and bandwidth to meet growing network resource requirements, and multi-gigabit switchboards FortiSwitch provide high PoE power for IoT power-intensive devices.
  • Device Edge-The Network Access Controller FortiNAC implements the automatic discovery, classification, and security of IoT devices as soon as they connect to the network. Version FortiNAC release 8.6 improves the detection of anomalies in traffic scanning, while FortiGate acts as a sensor, and branches do not need to install additional equipment.

According to the developer, this combination of technologies forms the Secure SD-Branch solution, which provides even more comprehensive integration of LAN and WAN platforms and offers the following benefits for customers:

  • Integrated security: FortiGate extends firewall functionality to the network access layer by integrating wireless network management and switching. By offering Network Access Control (NAC) using FortiGate as a means of control, the solution improves the discovery of new devices and the transparency of the infrastructure, as well as the ability to detect security anomalies for equipment used in branch offices.
  • Simplified management - Automated deployment and integrated management with a single tool makes it easier for branch offices to deploy infrastructure. Flexible architecture allows you to scale to support branch offices of all sizes, taking into account their possible growth.
  • Lower total cost of ownership: Lack of licensing fees and the need to purchase network traffic sensors, and simplify management processes with fewer interfaces to train employees, reduce day-to-day administrative tasks, take less time to deploy systems, and save organizations time and money.

Fortinet views network infrastructure through the security lens, offering customers secure network solutions within the Fortinet Security Fabric platform. With Secure SD-Branch, Fortinet offers its customers the ability to manage distributed branch networks, allowing them to maintain security at the right level, and helps them not only manage SD-WAN, but also operate at the access level.
