Start of serial production of GS LEDs with CRI 90 color index in sizes 2835, 3030, 5050

On June 26, 2023, GS Group Holding announced the start of mass production of LEDs under the GS LED brand with the CRI 90 color index in sizes 2835, 3030, 5050. The Ministry of Industry and Trade has received a conclusion confirming the production of LEDs on the territory of the Russian Federation - the products are included in the Register of Russian Industrial Products.

As of June 2023, the GS LED range includes several models of LEDs with the CRI 90 color index: one-chip in the 2835 case, two-chip in the 3030 case, eight-chip in the 5050 case. The color temperature of the LEDs is from 3000 to 4000 K, in the future LEDs with other color temperatures will be launched into production. The rated power consumption is from 0.5 to 4.0 W, the LEDs are designed for a voltage of 3 to 24 V. The private red transmission index R9 is at least 80.

We are expanding the range to meet the needs of the market, our engineers are continuously working to improve indicators and increase the number of modifications of LEDs for different customer requests. The CRI 90 index and higher allows you to create the most close to natural lighting of objects without color distortion, which allows them to be used in the production of light equipment for places where accurate and high-quality lighting is most important. Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation No. 2255 of December 24, 2020 obliges to use LED lamps with a color reproduction index of at least 90 in educational institutions, including preschool, in medical and preventive medical organizations and medical organizations of a special type, as well as in production premises for work requiring color control with very high requirements for color separation.

GS LEDs are produced at the facilities of enterprises Technopolice GS"" in the city. The Gusev Kaliningrad region cluster performs the technological operations necessary to recognize the LED as Russian: housing the LED, conducting control tests. When manufacturing, a phosphor of domestic production is used. Based on LED lamps "Virona"

Holding GS Group and the manufacturer of lighting equipment NPK "VIRONA" on June 6, 2023 announced cooperation in the production of domestic energy efficient LED lamps. Confirmation of domestic origin for 5050 LEDs based on 10 crystals

On April 21, 2023, GS Group Holding announced that it had received another opinion from the Ministry of Industry and Trade confirming the production of all modifications of GS LEDs in the Russian Federation. The products are listed in the Register of Russian Industrial Products. The conclusion is valid for 3 years.

As of April 2023, 72 series of LEDs of the GS LED brand in cases 2835, 3030, 5050 are included in the register of industrial products produced in the Russian Federation. Among others, the list also includes brand models - 5050 size based on 10 crystals. The rated electric power of the products included in the register is from 0.5 to 5.0 W; color temperature range - from 2,700 to 6,500 K; a possible color index is CRI 70, CRI 80, CRI 90. LEDs are designed for voltage from 3 to 24 V.

GS LEDs are designed for industrial, indoor and outdoor lighting. The production of GS LEDs is completely carried out on the basis of Technopolice GS. At the cluster enterprises, all technological operations necessary to recognize the LED as Russian are carried out: enclosing the LED, conducting control tests. In the manufacture of LEDs, a phosphor of domestic production is used.

The development and design of GS LEDs is carried out by its own R&D center, where a full cycle of development and development work is implemented.

Large-scale production of LEDs under the GS LED brand was launched in June 2021 on the basis of the enterprises of the Technopolice GS cluster. As the main technology of light-emitting diode housing, the method of mounting crystals on a carrier frame is used, followed by micro-welding, sealing with a gel-phosphor mixture and testing according to commercial characteristics. In production, equipment is installed that provides all these operations. The capacity allows the production of up to 145 million LEDs per year.

Production of 10-crystal LEDs of 5050 size

 HoldingGS Group announced on March 28, 2023, the start of production of a model of LEDs under the  GSLED brand, made on the basis of 10 crystals. LEDs are distinguished by  improved energy efficiency and increased light output - up to 215 lm/W.

The 10-chip model, compared to the standard 8-chip GS LED 5050, reduces the voltage by 0.15 V at a 640 mA binned current, thereby reducing the total power consumption. The updated version is characterized by increased energy efficiency - this is especially noticeable in warm color temperature ranges (an increase in light output to 182 lm/W and light flux to more than 700 lm at a color temperature of 4000 K). An improved LED model is available in various color temperature variations - from 2700 K to 6500 K and color reproduction indices CRI 70 +, CRI 80 +.

Thanks to the same seat as the standard 5050 GS LEDs, the modification is interchangeable with them, and it can be easily used in a wide range of lamps.

Compliance with the requirements of the EAEU technical regulations

On September 8, 2022, GS Group Holding announced that it had received a declaration on the compliance of all types of GS LEDs with the requirements of the technical regulations of the Eurasian Economic Union "On limiting the use of hazardous substances in electrical and electronic products" (TR EAEU 037/2016). The document is valid for 5 years.

The EAEU Declaration of Compliance with the TR confirms that the products meet the mandatory quality and safety requirements and can be freely sold on the market of the Union countries. Compliance was confirmed by all series of LEDs manufactured under the GS LED brand in cases 2835, 3030 and 5050. The declaration was issued on the basis of laboratory tests. Compliance with EAEU TR 037/2016 means that there are no harmful substances in the products, such as lead, mercury, cadmium, etc.

2021

Tests of the entire model range of GS LEDs in the Archilyte laboratory

On September 15, 2021, the GS Group holding announced the results of testing the entire range of GS LEDs in the Archilyte laboratory. Power, photometric, radiometric colorimetric, spectral, electrical characteristics of LEDs, their energy efficiency, etc. were estimated - a total of 29 parameters.

The laboratory studied the characteristics of LEDs in the 2835 PLCC, 3030 EMC and 5050 EMC sizes, which make up the entire GS LED lineup and are the most common and popular types of LEDs, the holding noted.

According to the results of the tests, the LEDs demonstrated compliance with the declared voltage, color temperature, light flux ranges:

  • Color temperatures - in the range from 2700 to 6500 K.
  • The color index (CRI) is > 80.
  • Energy efficiency - 180 lm/W.

Tests were carried out at currents of 150 mA and 120 mA.

Launch of large-scale production for the housing of LEDs in the Kaliningrad region

On June 18, 2021, the GS Group holding announced the launch of a large-scale production of LED enclosures under the GS LED brand on the basis of the Technopolice GS innovation cluster in Gusev, Kaliningrad Region. At the time of opening, production capacity is 145 million LEDs per year, followed by expansion to 400 million per year.

The range of products for June 2021 includes LEDs in three main types of cases: LEDs of types 2835 PLCC, 3030 EMC and 5050 EMC, which together account for more than 90% of the Russian lighting market. The first to launch a line for the production of LEDs in the 2835 case. By the end of June 2021, commissioning work will be completed and production of products in buildings 3030 and 5050 will start.

Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation No. 878 * of 10.07.2019 established priority for products included in the unified register of industrial products produced in the territory of the Russian Federation, when purchased by the state and state-owned companies. So, at tenders for state needs, the rule "third extra" is applied: if at least two applications are submitted with goods included in the register, then all foreign applications are subject to rejection. In tenders of public legal entities, Russian electronic products have a 30% preference: if the price for the supply of this product is higher than foreign, but within 30%, then domestic radio electronics wins. In June 2020, amendments to the Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation of July 17, 2015 No. 719 "On Confirmation of the Production of Industrial Products on the Territory of the Russian Federation" came into force, according to which, in order to classify the lamp as a domestic product, it is necessary that it contain domestic LEDs.

The register of industrial products produced in the Russian Federation includes as of January 2021 9 models of LEDs in three main types of cases: diodes of types 2835. 3030 and 5050, which together make up more than 90% of the Russian lighting market.

GS Nanotech completed the prototype LED phase in November 2020. In the 1 quarter of 2021, it is planned to supply equipment, commissioning and work out processes related to the launch of large-scale production. In the 2nd-3rd quarters of 2021, the company plans to reach capacity of up to 145 million units per year. By this time, the GS Group holding plans to invest more than 300 million rubles in production. The project is being implemented on the basis of the existing microelectronic capacities of GS Nanotech (including 700 sq.m of clean rooms of class 7, which have the potential to expand twice).

According to the GS Group, the volume of the Russian LED lighting market as of 2019 is estimated at 58.9 billion rubles, which is a little more than 1% of the global market (data from Lighting Business Consulting). The Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation estimates the market for state contracts, under which traditional light sources should be replaced with LED lighting, at 442 billion rubles. This assessment assumes that government contracts are being implemented gradually over 10 years (since 2017). at the same time, the state program for the modernization of lighting and the replacement of LED lamps in the Russian Federation has been completed by about 25%.

In the total cost of light equipment, the cost of the LED takes 7-8%. Thus, the market for LEDs in Russia in value terms can be estimated at 3.3 billion rubles. per year or 0.843 billion units in physical terms. Analysis of the public procurement market showed that government contracts for the replacement of lighting fixtures account for a third of the total market volume (in value terms).

2020: LED production launch plan

On November 25, 2020, GS Group Holding announced to TAdviser that it was launching on the basis of its own microelectronic enterprise GS Nanotech (as part of the Technopolice GS innovation cluster, Gusev, Kaliningrad Region) a direction for the enclosure of LEDs.
