13 trolleybuses in Tula

On February 28, 2017 the Drive Electro company announced results of operation of 13 trolleybuses during the winter period: the run in a standalone mode (without contact network) each machine exceeded 38 thousand km.

Technical implementation of the trolleybus allows it, moving under contact network, to charge accumulators and to pass without contact network up to 15 km in those parts of the city where it is absent.

According to the statement of Tulgorelektrotrans company, operation of trolleybuses on batteries is conducted the third winter in hard frosts.

For February 28, 2017 in Tula 13 similar trolleybuses are operated.

Trolz in St. Petersburg

In St. Petersburg started at the beginning of 2017 test operation of the Trolza trolleybus with batteries of the autonomous course from Drive Electro company. Tests of the innovation equipment take place in different districts of the city as in day, and at night to estimate operation of the machine in different temperature conditions. It is planned also that further during trial operation the trolleybus will ply on route No. 7 (from ost. "Stakhanovtsev Street" to ost. "Krasnogo Kursanta Street"). Route extent in forward direction is 11.5 km, in the return –11.37 km.

The uniqueness of the trolleybus with the increased autonomous course consists in use of Drive Electro batteries of so-called "second generation" – on the basis of lities-titanatnykh of accumulators, – more than 15 km allowing to overcome as the electrobus in any weather from-45 to +40 °C.

The CEO of Drive Electro Sergei Ivanov explained: "The feature of the device of the trolleybus with the system of the autonomous course allows it, moving under contact network, to charge accumulators and to pass then in those parts of the city where it was not carried out. It is very relevant for new areas and the developing cities". Thanks to the trolleybus with a large supply of the autonomous course it is possible not only to prolong routes of eco-friendly public transport to those areas where there is no infrastructure of GET, but also in many cases to avoid traffic standstill. To such trolleybuses neither accidents, nor break or frosting of lines, failure of substations are terrible. It can easily lower current collector bars, overcome a part of a route independently, and then to be loaded quickly from contact network. The Russia's first route of the trolleybus with the autonomous course was open in September, 2014 in Tula.
