First, to confirm your identity, the voter must place the "My Number" identification card with a 12-digit number (Japanese analogue of the social security number and TIN) in the reader. Blockchain technology is used to prevent falsification and reading of voting data.

Tsukuba Mayor Tatsuo Igarashi praised the innovative system. After the vote, he said that he expected a much more complicated procedure, but in fact everything turned out to be as simple as possible.

In addition, during the procedure, it was difficult to understand whether the voice was taken into account or not.

In a commentary to the publication, Professor of Tohoku University Kazunori Kawamura noted that due to fear of mistakes, it will be difficult for administrative bodies and election commissions of the country to introduce this kind of voting system. According to the expert, first the new technology must prove its reliability, for which it can be tested when organizing voting for Japanese citizens living outside the country.[1]
