EastMed (East Mediterranean Pipeline)

The East Mediterranean Pipeline (EastMed) is a 1,900-kilometer gas pipeline project that should transport gas from Israel to Greece and then to Italy.

In January 2019, Egypt, Israel, Greece, Cyprus, Jordan, Palestine and Italy created the Eastern Mediterranean Gas Forum. In September 2020, the same countries (except Palestine) signed an agreement on the creation of a gas organization headquartered in Cairo.

In view of Turkey's poor relations with Egypt, Israel, Greece and Cyprus, the countries ignored the role of Ankara and did not accept it into unification. Turkey reacted sharply to such isolation.
