Xi last visited the Tibet Autonomous Region, which covers about half of Tibet, in 2011.

1959: The beginning of an uprising against Chinese power

The Tibetan uprising against Chinese power lasted from March 10, 1959 to March 1962. The uprising began 7 years after the establishment of PRC power in Tibet. The rebellious Tibetans advocated the restoration of independence, against the Sinization of Tibet.

The future Dalai Lama XIV was born on July 6, 1935 in Taktsera - a Tibetan village in the Chinese province of Qinghai (or the Tibetan cultural region of Amdo).

Men loaded with tea briquettes for Tibet, 1908. One person has a briquette weight of 317 kg, and his friend has 298 kg.

1720: Skull carving

Carved skull from Tibet. It is believed that the artifact dates from the beginning of the XVIII century. According to one version, skull carving was a way to remove the curse from the deceased.
