Hitachi Vantara, a subsidiary of Hitachi, Ltd., announced on January 16, 2020 the completion of the merger with Hitachi Consulting. The goal of integration was to help enterprises aimed at digital transformation in creating competitive advantages, stimulating international development, as well as introducing social, environmental and economic innovations, the company said.

As previously reported, the post of executive director and chairman of the board of Hitachi Vantara was taken by Toshiaki Tokunaga, who worked at Hitachi for 30 years and carried out a number of successful transformations in several business divisions of the corporation.

2019: Merger with Hitachi Consulting Corporation

On September 20, 2019, Hitachi Corporation announced the merger of Hitachi Vantara Corporation and Hitachi Consulting Corporation. The goal of integration is to stimulate the global distribution of Hitachi solutions based on the Lumada platform and expand the capabilities of digital technologies for partners and customers. From January 2020, these organizations will operate under the Hitachi Vantara brand.

According to the company, thanks to the merger of the two companies, Hitachi will be able to significantly expand the opportunities for interaction with customers, as well as ensure more efficient work between Hitachi Vantara and its business units. As a result, the direction of Lumada will receive an impetus to development, and customers and partners will have advantages due to the accelerated development of solutions for digital innovation and the expansion of opportunities for joint product creation.

Hitachi Vantara will be headed by Toshiaki Tokunaga (Toshiaki Tokunaga), Chairman of the Board of Directors of Hitachi Global Digital Holdings. He has almost 30 years of experience in transforming Hitachi's business areas. Brian Housolder (Brian Householder), as of September 2019, serving as executive director of Hitachi Vantara, and (Hicham Abdessamad Hicham Abdessamad), president and executive director of Hitachi Consulting, will continue to work for Hitachi Corporation in senior positions.

2017: Creating

In September, 2017 Hitachi declared creation of the new company Hitachi Vantara which included such business directions of the Japanese conglomerate as the Internet of things, systems of data storage (SDS) and Big Data.

Hitachi Vantara includes Hitachi Data Systems, Hitachi Insight Group and Pentaho. Hitachi Moves Storage, IoT, and Big Data Business to New Vantara

Hitachi Vantara will continue to develop infrastructure and analytical solutions, and will also help customers create comprehensive data-oriented solutions. The priority for the new company will be the realization of the opportunities of the emerging Internet of Things market, the revenue in which Hitachi plans to bring to 1.05 trillion yen ($9.4 billion) in 2018.

About 7,000 employees or about a third of Hitachi's staff will join Vantara.

Hitachi IT departments in Japan, China, India, Europe, etc. will be consolidated on the basis of the new company.
