2019: Arrests

In June, 2019. The Investigative Committee announced detention and arrest of members of the criminal group stealing diamonds in ALROSA company. According to the investigators, directly the employee of the company Elena Kanunnikova who together with accomplices (Vladimir Tabidze and Vladimir Gordinsky) managed to be caught red-handed in attempt of plunder  of the next batch of diamonds worth more than 22 million rubles was engaged in theft.

During searches 500 diamonds with a lump more than 2 thousand carats and 11 diamonds, says  SK were withdrawn from members of criminal group. According to department, the total cost of these stones was over $3 million Besides, at members of the group more than $2 million and €500 thousand cash and also jewelry products of the known world brands, including more than 30 hours inlaid with diamonds are found.

At this time it is considered that sorting, weighing and formation of diamond "boxes" – perhaps, the most opaque part of a chain "from production to a counter".

Knowledge of what stones are in the specific box, often is more expensive than all batch which arrived from Yakutia in 2-3 weeks.

Field investigators of management "K" FSB Russia did not hurry. A group of persons, the stones participating in theft, they conducted almost 5 years.

It was required so much to set all involved in plunders and to trace a complete chain: from the Center sorting of diamonds in. Mirnyi – to the jewelry enterprises (including, abroad).

In sorting of diamonds there is an assumption at each weighing. It makes shares of gram and considers "dust" which is eliminated from the stones arriving from Yakutia.

On this "assumption" (information on which in the automatic mode is brought in the ESO information base, access to which only units of top managers of JSC ALROSA have) and all chain opened with FSB is under construction.

In the following batch this "mote" changes on following, it is slightly more than the weight. Further replacement happens again and again.

For several days of continuous work on different batches the decent stone of 1-5 carat in size forms.

Which, in turn, can be replaced with similar on weight, but with the best qualities in a form, color and purity.

Replacements went including using "drain". Because in warehouses ESO by the size only about couple of rooms it is saved up finished goods for hundreds of millions dollars.
