2016: Avast buys AVG for $1.3 billion

On July 7, 2016 the Czech producer of antiviruses Avast announced purchase of AVG for $1.3 billion. Due to this merger of Avast is going to expand business and geographical presence.

Under the terms of the agreement, Avast will pay $25 for each stock AVG that is one third more than the market value of one action as of July 6, 2016. The transaction will be paid from cash and a credit.

Before Credit Suisse Securities, Jefferies and UBS Investment Bank provided Avast a loan in the amount of $1.685 billion Besides, the producer of software attracted $150 million investments in exchange for the actions.

Due to merger of AVG the Avast company is going to expand business and geographical presence

The deal on sale of AVG of Avast company is going to be closed during the period from September 15 to October 15, 2016 depending on approval dates of receipt from regulators.

As a result of the announced merger of Avast hopes to have more opportunities for business development in the field of Internet security and also to make broader geographical expansion and to master the new markets, such as Internet of Things.

Besides, this transaction will open Avast access to 400 million end devices, including to 160 million mobile.

According to the head of AVG Gary Kovacs, merge to the Avast private company having considerable resources "completely answers our tasks of growth of business and the best interests of shareholders".

Avast is not going to remove the AVG brand from the market, and will share it with the brand that, according to the company, should strengthen its positions in the different markets.[1]
