2018: BASF buys Advanc3D Materials

At the beginning of July, 2018 the German chemical concern BASF announced purchase of two producers of materials for three-dimensional printing. It is about Advanc3D Materials and Setup Performance companies. Purchase should become an important step forward for BASF which aims to expand the influence in the 3D area - printing – implementation of technologies of the selection laser agglomeration for will allow BASF to attract new clients in automotive and light industry.

Setup Performance is the French company located in Lyon which develops and makes the innovation products for laser agglomeration. Setup Performance — the main partner of Advanc3D Materials in development of materials for three-dimensional printing.

For development of the direction of three-dimensional printing of BASF as buys the companies (Advanc3D Materials and Setup Performance to that an example), and closely cooperates with global research platforms and also with research institutes, the universities, startups and different industrial partners.

The vice president for production and the innovative technologies of BASF, doctor Dietmar Bender, noted that the purchased portfolio of Advanc3D Materials and Setup Performance technologies perfectly complements the range of services of concern and is ideal for the used materials, such as polyamide 11, polyamide 12 and polypropylene.

In April, 2018 BASF 3D Printing Solutions provided new material PA6 for the selection laser agglomeration which easily is exposed to processing on the majority of the SLS printers which are usually used in the market.[2]
