2019: Francisco Partner purchased Qualcomm Life and renamed into Capsule Tech

On February 11, 2019 Qualcomm announced sale to the subsidiary company Qualcomm Life specializing in the medical equipment. Business passed private investment company Francisco Partners and received the new name — Capsule Tech as after closing of the transaction the company will independently work.

The former owner of the company announced that Capsule Tech will continue activity in two different directions: in the form of Capsule subsidiary company, equipment supplier for consolidation of medical devices in one system, and 2net, platforms of mobile applications for the medical equipment.

Qualcomm sold business on release of the medical equipment

From the emergence in 2011 Qualcomm Life was one of the main market participants on creation of the channels integrating medical devices. It provided the products to a wide range of producers of medical devices, the pharmaceutical companies and companies of health insurance.

Qualcomm Life always used a certain degree of autonomy under the auspices of producer of chips Qualcomm. For the beginning of 2019 this subsidiary company provided connection of medical devices to clinical information systems in more than 2000 hospitals from 40 countries. The newest technologies of this company help medical institutions to collect and visualize clinical data, providing monitoring of health of patients and increasing quality of their treatment.

It is supposed that sale was caused by desire of Qualcomm to reduce costs in response to reduction of the main turnover of the company in the field of chips and telecommunications. The former president of Qualcomm Life Rick Valencia will act as the consultant at execution of the transaction for transition of the company to the status of independent.

Financial details of the transaction are not disclosed.[1]
