Last.fm  is service of Internet radio.

History

2002: Start of service

It is created in 2002 by Felix Miller, Richard Jones and Martin Stiksel.

The Last.fm service was not the first strimingovy music service, however, became one of the first in Network portals which connected functionality of social network, Internet radio and recommendatory service. "Skrobbling" - a possibility of transfer to service of information on the music listened on a player or the PC for the subsequent formation of the list of recommendations became separate feature of Last.fm.

2007: CBS redeems Last.fm for $280 million

Founders of Last.fm sold service of CBS company for $ 280 million in  2007. Then on Last.fm the paid subscription appeared.

In June, 2009 all three announced that leave the company.

"We were glad to work together with such command and very much we are proud of what we managed to reach. For the last year the number of users of Last.fm almost doubled up to 37.3  million visitors a month"  — Felix Miller in the official blog Last.fm told.

2012: Last.fm closes radio in Russia

One of pioneers of musical broadcasting on the Internet announced social service Last.fm in December, 2012 termination of work in Russia and nine more countries.

As the company reports on the website, since January 15, 2013 Last.FM will continue work with limited number of the countries: in the USA, Great Britain and Germany listening of music will be still free; in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland and Brazil Internet radio, as before, will be available on a paid subscription while "in other countries" providing stream broadcasting will be stopped including for paid subscribers of service.

It is known that the number of the countries where still worked with Last.fm officially and with which it will stop working on January 15, 2013, includes Russia, Spain, France, Italy, Japan, Poland, Portugal, Sweden, Turkey and China.

Paid users from these countries can refuse a subscription or get access to a possibility of viewing the website of Last.fm without advertizing and to other functionality which will appear in the long term.

The reason of the demarche of Last.fm in the published message calls "license restrictions" and hopes "expand audience of radio in the future" when for this purpose there are "economically reasonable methods".

2015: Roskomnadzor blocks access to the website in Russia

In August, 2015 there was a redesign of the website.

On August 28, 2015 it became known that Roskomnadzor entered the musical Last.fm online catalog in the register of the prohibited websites because of the publication of the Kill the Cop song of group of Psikhey.

According to the Roskomsvoboda resource, in 2010 the decision of Dorogomilovsky district court of Moscow the track "Kill the Cop" was recognized extremist material and entered in the corresponding list of Ministry of Justice.

Despite it, on September 24, 2014 the Leninsky district court of Kirov recognized the song banned in the Russian Federation again and sent the notification to Roskomnadzor on entering into the register of a certain "electronic page".

Since then Roskomnadzor repeatedly entered in the register the websites for the publication of this song.

In addition to the specific page which conducts to the track "Psikhei" the domain and the IP address are entered in the register that allows operators to limit access for users to all Last.fm.
