Biography

1996: Arrival to Abbott

In 1996 Robert Ford joined Abbott, having got a job in diabetic division.

2018: Appointment of Abbott as the president

In 2018 Robert Ford was appointed the president and the operating officer of Abbott.

2019: Appointment of Adobe as the CEO

On November 13, 2019 Miles Whyte announced the resignation from a post of the CEO of Abbott after 21 year of the management of one of the world's largest producers of the medical equipment. He will officially resign authority in March, 2020, and its place will be taken by the president and the operating officer of the company 46-year-old Robert Ford.

Miles Whyte will remain the executive chairman of the board of directors of Abbott into which Ford will also enter. For the 131-year history Abbott Robert Ford will become only the 13th CEO.

During the stay at Abbott wheel Whyte cardinally and rather successfully changed the company, having refused the produced pharmaceutical medicines and products for hospitals under the name of Abbott to focus on such products as coronary stents, the equipment for control of diabetes and baby food.

One of main goals in my career was in that the company reached an advantageous position for people who expect us. Now the company became the strongest what it was not for all the time of my work. I am sure that Robert will successfully lead Abbott in the future — Whyte said, commenting on replacement of the leadership of the company.

Robert Ford supervised purchase of the producer of the medical equipment of St. Jude Medical for $25 billion and start sign the systems of continuous monitoring of glucose in FreeStyle Libre blood in which there is no needle.

In day of the declaration of Miles Whyte's resignation the share value of Abbott fell slightly — by 0.3%.[1]
