2019: Arrest on suspicion of espionage for benefit of China

On January 11, 2019 it became known of arrest of the top manager of the Polish representative office of Huawei who is suspected of espionage for benefit of China.

According to Financial Times (FT), for three months delays the sales director of Huawei Poland the citizen of China Weijing W and also the former employee of intelligence agencies Pyotr D. (Piotr D.). Complete names of suspects are not revealed, but the informed interlocutor of the edition says that the first is called Weijing Wang, he also uses the European name Stanislav Wang.

It has its page on social network LinkedIn. There it is reported that Wang worked more than four years the Chinese consulate in Gdansk before getting a job in Huawei.

The top manager of the Polish office Huawei was arrested for espionage for benefit of China

The press secretary of the Polish ministry of internal security  Stanislav Zaryn told (Stanislaw Zaryn) that department has proofs that both delayed men "conducted espionage activity against Poland". If they are found guilty, then they can get to prison for a period of up to 10 years. According to the source FT familiar with investigation, charge is not brought to Weijing V. yet. Arrested did not admit the guilt and refused to give evidences.

It is reported that Pyotr D. till 2011 held a high post in the Agency of internal security and worked on information security support. He had data on functioning of network of the government communication intended for confidential information transfer to the top officials in the state.[1]

According to TVP TV company, the Polish intelligence agencies  carried out searches in Huawei local offices, in Orange Polska telecommunication company where the delayed citizen of Poland Pyotr D. and also in the building of the telecommunication regulator of Poland worked. 

Huawei said that know about detention of the citizen of the People's Republic of China, and confirmed that that really is an employee of the company. Orange Polska announced complete readiness to cooperate with the investigation.
