Igor Zyuzin is the Russian entrepreneur, the chairman of the board of directors Mechel since 2004. The company is included into the three of the largest Russian producers of coal and is the producer and the exporter, largest in Russia, of the solid coked coal.

Assets

The largest shareholder of Mechel. Business consists of four segments: mining, metallurgical, power and ferroalloy.

In February, 2007 in the message of Mechel for the American Commission on security market it was told that Zyuzin is a beneficiary of 68.2% of stocks of the company. In June, 2009 it became known that there is more than a half of Zyuzin's packet in the Mechel group — 37.9% of stocks from 66% — there is in pledge on bank loans[1].

Status

Takes the 16th place in the rating of the Russian-language version of Forbes "The richest businessmen of Russia — 2011"[2]. Igor Zyuzin's fortune is estimated in 8.9 billion dollars.

Biography

Education

In 1982 graduated with honors from the Tula polytechnical institute (The Tula state university).

In 1985 completed postgraduate studies at the same institute.

In 1986 received degree of Candidate of Technical Sciences.

In 1992 in absentia graduated with honors from the Kuzbass polytechnical institute (Kemerovo) as "a mining engineer-economist".

Career

In 1987 came to the Raspadskaya mine (Kemerovo region), began the first steps in business with the invention of barter schemes of implementation of coal as the chief of the sales department.

Since 1989 — the supervising foreman, the acting chief technologist.

Since 1990 — the deputy director of commerce and foreign economic activity of the Raspadskaya mine.

Since October, 1993 — the director of JSC TsOF Kuzbasskaya

1997-1999 — the chairman of the board of directors of JSC Mezhdurechenskugol.

Since May, 1999 — the chairman of the board of directors of JSC Yuzhny Kuzbass.

In 2001 in partnership with Vladimir Iorikh purchased a controlling stake of the Chelyabinsk metallurgical plant. Since June, 2001 — the board member of JSC Mechel (Chelyabinsk Electric Steelworks).

Since January, 2004 — the chairman of the board of directors of JSC Mechel Steel Group.

Since December, 2006 — the CEO of JSC Mechel.

In June, 2010 headed Board of Directors of the company, i.e. returned on a post which held until the end of 2006.

Social and political activity

Since 2000 — the member of council on an entrepreneurship at the Russian Prime Minister.

Family

Interesting Facts

In the summer of 2008 the prime minister Vladimir Putin threatened "send the doctor" to Zyuzin. After the stated claims to Mechel company and its CEO, the stock quotation of the enterprise at the New York exchange failed more than for 30% or in absolute expression on 5 billion dollars.
