2018: Announcement of the TV

At the beginning of August, 2018 the first-ever TV with function of production of cryptocurrencies was announced. The device under the name AvalonMiner Inside  was provided by the Chinese company Canaan Creative.

Capacity of the TV is 2.8  trillion hashes  per second. A hash — unit of measure of the computing power (hashrate) of computers or the special equipment used to cryptocurrency mining. For comparison, the most powerful mining systems by the beginning of August, 2018 have performance reaching 11 trillion hashes per second.

The first-ever TV with cryptocurrency mining function is released

The TV is supplied with the 109-inch display, artificial intelligence technology and function of voice actuation. The cryptocurrency which is mined during viewing TV can be used only for purchase of entertaining content or physical goods through the Canaan Internet platform.

Obviously, it is connected with  the fact that in  China purchase and sale of cryptocurrency is prohibited. Mining is still formally resolved, but  the authorities of Celestial Empire constantly speak about possible restrictions and bans.

Among other functions developers note an opportunity to calculate profitability of production of bitcoins in real time. The company says that their TV opens a new era of mining when the equipment for it can be used at the same time as home appliances. In plans of the company the release of other household appliances connected in uniform a blockchain system appears.

Canaan Creative is going to begin sales of the TV with a possibility of production of cryptocurrency in August, 2018. The price of the equipment is not set. Most likely, the price will not be low.

In 2017 the company sold nearly 300 thousand computers for Avalon mining. They cost $1625, but at the TV power much less therefore also the price should be lower.^[1]
