"STRIZH Telematics" — the producer of "smart devices" based on new wireless energy efficient technology of a distant range — LPWAN (Low-Power Wide Area Network). The most popular solutions — collecting of meter readings of water, electricity, heat and gas for the sector of housing and public utilities. The innovative solutions are in addition developed for agriculture and security using the concept of IoT.

LPWAN (Low-Power Wide-Area Network) is a class of the wireless telematic devices transferring data on a radio channel; the basic principle — digital transmission of data on supernarrow frequency band at low speeds.

Feature of technology — big sending range of a signal from the end device to the accepting station (up to 10 km in city line and up to 40 km on the open area); long term of operation of end devices (more than 10 years without external power supply); profitability and simplicity of implementing solutions; excellent scalability at the expense of almost unlimited number of the connected sensors.

LPWAN is a world trend of the intercomputer (M2M) communication for Internet of Things (IoT). The technology is capable to provide connection of billions of devices worldwide and to make it the cheapest way – unlike traditional telecom operators 3GGPRS//LTE where a power supply is required, or from protocols of smart homes of ZigBee/Z-Wave/M-Bus where the range of a signal is limited to 50 meters.

Big reach of STRIZh network allows to build effective network for "smart devices". So, for example, the covering of Moscow by a cellular network requires several thousands of base stations — their range of only 1−1.5 km. STRIZh for this purpose enough less than 100 base stations.

When about several hundred thousands of different devices are the share of one base station, its performance becomes keyword parameter. Earlier for parallel processing of all frequency channels the base station had to be built based on processor server solutions and to be reconciled with their high energy consumption, heat release and high cost.

Transfer of processing of frequency channels on the graphic processors NVIDIA with support of NVIDIA CUDA technology allowed to achieve significantly the best performance at smaller dimensions, energy consumption, heat release and the price.

Development History

2017: Start of an IoT-franchize

On October 25, 2017 MartinLPWAN solutions for the Internet provider of things — announced start by the first in the territory of Russia and the CIS IoT-franchizes. The company announced providing access to the IoT-platform of own development for the regional companies.

"Smart" counters of electricity Martin

With the advent of the available IoT-platform in regions the tool for deployment of solutions based on LPWAN will appear. Any entrepreneur, service organization or integrator can unroll the IoT-network and provide services of collecting of telemetry in housing and public utilities, the industry, security and other industries.

For creation of IoT-network million investments on purchase, adjustment and infrastructure maintenance are not necessary. To unroll network of Internet of Things, there is enough one base station and set of "smart" devices for use in the target industry. For example, to automate collecting of indications from all counters of the residential district or city, to control temperature in refrigerators of supermarket chain or a leakage on trunks of pipelines.

LPWAN technology was developed for data exchange between devices in large territories and approaches for more than 20 industries: Housing and public utilities, power industry, agriculture, security, oil and gas industry. For example, in Rostov and Voronezh "smart" hydrometers, power meters and sensors of humidity also are connected to one IoT-network. LPWAN network collects data from thousands of independent sensors in the territory of the city and the suburb, covering over 800 km ².

As noted, since 2014 on the Martin platform more than 800 projects in several regions of Russia are already implemented. The "hottest" direction — wireless scheduling of counters in the market of housing and public utilities. Benefit from use of the systems of intellectual accounting as the management and resource companies — they automatically receives the broad and exact picture of resource consumption of all housing stock — and inhabitants, paying only the resources, not worrying about dishonest neighbors and a monthly census of indications.

Experience of three regions showed availability and benefit of the innovation LPWAN technology to management companies and small service organizations, concluded in Strizh companies.

2016: Installation of 40 stations in Moscow and regions

For the beginning of 2016 in Moscow and certain regions of Russia about 40 new stations which are used for data collection of telemetry and data exchange within the concept of Internet of Things are set. All new stations which "MARTIN" sets in Russia are equipped with NVIDIA processors.

The STRIZh network covers Moscow, the Moscow region, St. Petersburg, Perm, Ufa, Grozny, Novokuybyshevsk, Stavropol and Syktyvkar. In 2016 STRIZh is going to cover with "smart network" all Russian million-plus cities.

2015: Tests of base stations for NVIDIA Jetson TK1

In 2015 the STRIZh company completed tests of working samples of base stations based on the NVIDIA Jetson TK1 platform with support of NVIDIA CUDA technology and brought new stations into commercial operation.
