According to the producer, the Panasonic VR glasses resembling old school "goggla" superficially are convenient in use as normal sunglasses.

Main characteristics of the VR device:

  • Image of high resolution and support of HDR
    • Are equipped with the OLED micropanels – joint development of Kopin Corporation and Panasonic
    • Provide the natural and equal picture without characteristic "effect of a grid" because of which thin lines between pixels become noticeable to the user.

  • Qualitative sound and broad range of the reproduced frequencies – from low to high

    • Use of the dynamic Technics radiator provides the exact movement of a diaphragm and low audio artifact.

  • The compact and easy frame which is not requiring additional (inconvenient) fastenings

    • Use of the fiber unit developed by Kopin corporation, company 3M and Panasonic allows to display natural images without distortions, using one compact module.

2019: Announcement

At the beginning of January, 2020 Panasonic provided as the company claims, the first-ever VR glasses with support 4K and HDR. They allow to output images of ultrahigh clearness with High Dynamic Range (HDR) technology.

Panasonic together with Kopin Corporation developed the OLED display especially for this model. The latest microdisplays there are much less normal panels and, thus, allow to create much more compact headsets. The patented technology eliminates unpleasant "effect of a grid" when between pixels thin strips are visible, it is specified in the press release.

Developers claim that in combination with HDR technology the new OLED display provides saturated, realistic colors and color differences without distorting the image. New VR glasses combine the audio-and visual technologies of Panasonic which were earlier used in production of video equipment and also the optical technologies used in digital Lumix cameras. And thanks to Technics VR glasses audiotechnologies provides a high-quality sound and broad range of the reproduced frequencies — from ultralow to high. So far it is unknown with what devices and platforms this gadget will work.

Points are supplied with a compact and easy frame without any additional fastenings. It consists of two roundish "frames" with screens and the planimetric laying adjoining to an orbital bone. Thin handles cling to an ear and are supplied with the silicone inserts located on an internal surface. The company claims that the new gadget is not less convenient, than normal sunglasses.

The Panasonic corporation is going to continue developments in the field of VR, assuming that with wide circulation of a commercial 5G services demand for these technologies in the future will only grow.[1]
